TOUR NEWS
UK TOUR CANCELLED!
[October 28, 2004]
Unfortunately the UK tour that was planned for December 2004 has been
cancelled. Reason is drummer Chad Smith's commitment to his band the
Red Hot Chili Peppers, who are in the middel of recording a new album.
A new Glenn Hughes tour has been planned for the early spring of 2005.
Here is a statement from Chad:
"Regretfully,
due to work on the next Chili Peppers album taking much longer than
originally anticipated, it is with much sadness that I have to announce
that I will not be able to appear on the UK December tour with Glenn
Hughes. I want everyone out there to know that I am incredibly disappointed,
and the decision to cancel has not been easy. Schedules permitting,
Glenn and I will be touring together in the UK at some point
in the very near future, so Ill be looking forward to seeing you
all then."

the ice in my own city. We had five new songs, so we also did Coast

Water. I look forward doing more shows with Shape 68." Sounds good,

TOUR EUROPE: BERLIN CANCELLED!
[September 15, 2002] The HTP show

has been made due to a situation that the band absolutely had no grip

URGENT MESSAGE!
[December
14, 2001 As
has been announced on this site, Glenn is to appear at the Universal
Studios City Walk in Orlando, Florida tonight. In relation to that we
have an urgent message for all of you going there. Glenn has been fighting
the flu all week, but wanted to to wait to as close to the show as possible
to evaluate whether he would be in a position to sing or not, and he
is not. Accordingly,
he will be performing tonight, but not singing. But as always his fans
come first, so glenn has arranged a meet & greet at the velvet room
of the Hard Rock for his fans from between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. tonight.
Glenn wants to be able to spend time personally with his fans. He feels
bad, but his health and his fans are paramount to him, and this plan
accommodates both.

Hughes is on tour in Europe but unfortunately he's had to cancel a couple

"We can't stress it enough that you should always remember to call
the venue before to be sure the show is still on. Cancelled gigs are

We just found out that Paul Crook, guitar player with Anthrax (although not a full member of the band?!) says on his web site
that he's submitted material for possible inclusion on Glenn Hughes'
next solo CD. Crook is also close (?) to sign a deal with Shrapnel for
a CD of his own and he plans to have John Bush, Sebastian Bach and Glenn
Hughes sharing vocals duties on one track. I checked with Glenn and
he says: "Paul Crook is submitting some music for me to check out.
He is very talented!".

For those of you who have been wondering about the status of Nikolo Kotzev's "Nostradamus" project, we recently received word from Nik himself about what has been going on lately. "I was
in negotiations with an American company regarding 'Nostradamus', but
it was taking a very long time and I decided to move on. Right now I
am talking to a German company for the European release, and I hope
to put the album out sometime this Autumn." In the meantime, Kotzev
has been keeping himself busy with other projects, but he has assured
us that this album will DEFINITELY be worth the wait.

He was cool enough to grace the Craig Erickson Projects that I'm producing
on the track "Wild Dogs" byTommy Bolin. Long live the spirit
of brother Tommy Bolin! Glenn did a fantastic job on the track and it
begs to be heard. All the serious Glenn Hughes and Tommy Bolin freaks
need to tune into this true righteous soulful musical tribute. Brother
Johnny Bolin shows up on the track. I produced Craig in a very deep
soulful earth blues musical vibe. We start mixing the disc this week
in L.A. Release date is scheduled for October 2000. It could be sooner
if all the pieces fall into place."

DEP SESSIONS!
[September 14, 2004]
In 1996 Glenn Hughes and Tony Iommi did a session together with Don
Airey, Dave Holland and Geoff Nicholls. A poor quality tape was bootlegged
a few years later. With new drums by Jimmy Copley (who had played
on Tonys Iommi album), Tony and the original engineer
Mike Exeter then got down to mixing the CD, stripping the original
performances back to basics and giving them a clean feel. The sessions
will now get an official release on Sanctuary Records on September
28th 2004. [More...]

BURN
REMASTERED - UPDATE!
[March 14, 2004] Deep-Purple.net

The album has been scheduled to appear
this year as a Thirtieth Anniversary Edition. Latest thinking for
the track line-up is as follows:
Remastered
album: [1] Burn, [2] Might Just Take Your Life, [3] Lay Down, Stay
Down, [4] Sail Away, [5] You Fool No One, [6] What's Going On Here,
[7] Mistreated, [8] A 200. Single b-side remixed: [9] Coronarias Redig.
Bonus remixes: [10] Burn, [11] Mistreated, [12] You Fool No One, [13]
Sail Away. Total running time 71.49
Cassettes
of the Burn rehearsals have been located, but sadly the sound quality
is not thought good enough for them to feature. There has been discussion
of a true 5.1 mix but such a mix has not been done and is not currently
scheduled.

Sail Away, a real boost for Mistreated and a total face-lift for You
Fool No One" Now that is something to look foreward to! Furthermore,

DEEP
PURPLE RISES OVER JAPAN (1975)
[March 6, 2003] DPAS
reports: A 16mm print of the "Deep Purple Rises Over Japan"
film has at last been secured. It was located in EMI's Dutch archive,
thanks to the help of dpas member Tonny Steenhagen. Deep Purple (Overseas)
will be having the footage transferred to a digital format as soon as
practicable to ensure that the material is safely archived. It is the
25 minute edit of the December 15th 1975 show, which has been on pirate
video for some time in poor quality. No
firm release plans yet but the footage is likely to form part of an
upcoming Deep Purple DVD archive collection. The material was scheduled
for release on VHS back in 1985 but was withdrawn due to poor sound
quality. This is no longer an issue as it can be synched to the restored
Tokyo audio masters (This
Time Around - Live In Tokyo).

PERKS & TIT
[December 28, 2002]
The infamous bootleg Perks & Tit has been cleaned up and made ready
for an official release. The music apparently sounds amazing, the old
vinyl pressings were distorted, meaning that the band sounded out of
tune at times. Deep
Purple.net writes: Purple Records have announced the fifth Sonic
Zoom title (and the first by Mk 3), recorded live at the San Diego Sports
Arena, April 9th 1974. Tracks on this single CD are Burn / Might Just
Take Your Life / Lay Down, Stay Down / Mistreated / Smoke On The Water
/ Lord solo. The CD has been restored from original tape sources, fully
cleaned up and with the inclusion of the previously missing between
song patter, the hard to find "Smoke" and a four minute keyboard
solo. According to the label, the rest of the show has sadly been lost.
"Mistreated" from this gig appeared on the EMI box set. Release date isn't yet confirmed but likely to be January

CTC MOST PEOPLE'S FAVE GH SONG!
[August 13, 2001]
Over at the Glenn Hughes Picture
Gallery they ran a poll in several stages to find out what people's
fave Glenn Hughes song is (jump to the
poll result.). "Coast To Coast", the song that some people regard
to be Glenn's signature song, won with about 25% of the votes. Glenn
passed on this message as a comment:
"I am glad to see the winner in the favorite song contest is 'Coast to Coast'. This is my
favorite song as well. I wrote this in my Mother's kitchen along with
'Way Back to the Bone' and 'Will Our Love End' in one writing session
that was about an hour. I think CtC is the jewel in the crown though.
It is a simple song, and I believe simple songs are the best songs.
Thank you to all my fans who participated in the contest. It was fun
for me to see the results come in. Thank you for being part of my life.
I am very much blessed. See you soon, your friend, Glenn"

(It's later been found out that the show is still on, but both the
recording of a DVD and Glenn's appearance with them are cancelled this
time around.)

COMPETITION
ROUNDUP/MONTROSE GIG!
[January
20, 2001] Among the winners in the competition where you could win
a pass to the NAMM JAMM show featuring Ronnie Montrose and Glenn Hughes,
were Amy and Brent Angelo, Carol Bailey-Sumber, Mike Caniff, Rueben
Flores, John Gallagher, Ann Green, Howie, Dan Laframboise. Ko Mitani,
Noriko Yamamoto-Mitani and Todd Seely. We hope you had a great time
and we would love to see your reports on the
WWW board! Thanks also to David & Shirean for all the hard work
making the competition a success.
The
competition question was: Glenn Hughes and Ronnie Montrose performed
together at the recent Mark & Brian Christmas Variety Show in L.A.
One of the songs they did is written by
a musician (keyboardist) who once had a band together with two guys
who played with Glenn in Deep Purple. Who is the musician who wrote
the song and what is the title of the song?
The
answer: The musician is the one and only and utterly amazing, Tony
Ashton, who once had a band (PAL) with Jon Lord and Ian Paice who
both were in Deep Purple with Glenn back in the old days. The song in
question was, "Resurrection Shuffle".

GLENN AT THE HOUSE
OF BLUES!
[December 1, 2000]
On November 29th Glenn
performed at the House of Blues in LA for RADD (Recording Artists, Actors
& Athletes Against Drunk Driving) in their holiday campaign for
safer roads. They believe your lifestyle is YOUR business - just
don't take it on the road. Glenn's RADD All-Star band included MC5's
Wayne Kramer, and Paul McCartney's drummer Denny Seiwell in a powerful
opening celebration of the Tito Puente/Santana number "Oye Como
Va". The All-Stars closed with the anthem "Drive My Car"
which has now been donated to RADD by Paul McCartney. Glenn was joined
on stage by many artists who came out to show their support for this
excellent cause and give some back up for Glenn's signature rock vocals.
Comedian Richard Lewis, Basketball star Lisa Leslie, actors Judd Nelson,
Mario Van Peebles & Sally Kirkland, to name a few. Remember this
holiday season: Designate before you Celebrate!

HUGHES/THRALL II
[November
7, 1999]
Glenn was in New York for a few days at the end of
August to commence work with Pat Thrall on the highly-anticipated Hughes/Thrall
II project. Recording is taking place at Pat's studio. The featured
material will be re-recordings of some of the songs that were planned
for the aborted second H/T album in the mid 80s along with some new
material. During their first session together, the duo recorded Pay
The Price, Try And Take My Love, and one new composition. Pat Thrall
has already registered the hughesthrall.com domain. Glenn plans to return to New York
in the early part of next year for more recording with Pat. It must
be noted that due to their busy schedules and the fact that this is
a bi-coastal production, a release should not be expected for quite
some time, but it will be worth the wait!
HUGHES/SYKES
[November 3, 1999]
Glenn and guitarist John Sykes have been in contact about writing
and recording together, but due to their busy schedules, do not expect
any further word on this potential collaboration until sometime next
year.
