GLENN HUGHES, former bassist and singer of Deep Purple, known to millions as the ‘Voice of Rock’, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and the current front man for rock super group Black Country Communion is pleased to announce that he will be performing Deep Purple only material with his “CLASSIC DEEP PURPLE LIVE” nationwide US tour in August-Sept. 2018.
The tour promises to be dynamic, a turn-back-the-clocks, two-hour live extravaganza homage to his tenure in MK 3 and MK 4 incarnations of Deep Purple – one of music history’s most seminal and influential rock and roll groups. With a Facebook following of a quarter million fans, the tour is certain to rock theaters coast to coast.
I’m excited to be performing Classic Deep Purple Live in the US late this Summer. I first performed Classic Deep Purple Live in Australia and New Zealand last year and it went down like a storm. We’re touring the show throughout South America in the Spring, and international festivals throughout the Summer. By the time we tour the US, then Ireland and the UK in October, we’ll be on fire.

Alice in Chains guitarist, Jerry Cantrell and former Deep Purple bassist Glenn Hughes will take part in the next edition of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s SoundExchange Influencers Series. The event will take place June 2nd, 2016 in the Cleveland museum’s Foster Theater. Visit RockHall.com for ticket info.
The Rock Hall’s Influencers series “brings music legends and stars together to demonstrate the impact that one artist or band’s music has on future generations”, as well as providing a forum to address issues currently facing our music legends, namely, fair pay and recognition for all sound recordings across all mediums and all eras of music.
Glenn Hughes was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Deep Purple earlier this year and will headline his own shows in the USA and South America, in addition to a co-headline tour of Europe later in the year with Grammy award winning Rock band from New York, Living Colour.
Hughes joined hard-rock legends Deep Purple in 1973 following the departure of vocalist Ian Gillan and bass guitarist Roger Glover. The following year saw the release of Burn (featuring David Coverdale and Glenn Hughes on vocals), which has since been re-released on its 30th anniversary. This stunning album rejuvenated the band and stands tall among Deep Purple classics.
In the halcyon days, Purple headlined at the famous California Jam in 1974 in front of quarter of a million people. After world tours via Purple’s own jet plane, “The Starship” and two more studio albums, (the Hughes influenced Stormbringer and Come Taste the Band), Deep Purple finally split in 1976. In 2016, Deep Purple (Ritchie Blackmore, David Coverdale, Rod Evans, Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, Glenn Hughes, Jon Lord, Ian Paice) was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich. In addition to his touring schedule, Glenn Hughes is currently preparing a new solo album, and recently announced the return of Black Country Communion (featuring Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian).
Meanwhile, this Summer, Jerry Cantrell and Alice in Chains will be opening for Guns N’ Roses on the reunited rockers’ Not in This Lifetime tour. They’ll also embark on a headlining tour of their own.
Cantrell is most recognized as the lead guitarist, songwriter and vocalist for mega-platinum-selling rock band Alice in Chains. The band’s most recent release was the Grammy nominated album The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here, which entered Billboard’s Top 200 at No. 2 and debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Alternative Albums Chart. Rolling Stone gave the record three stars, as did USA Today, who praised it as an album of “undeniable power.” Spin called it “an assured, diverse, heated record with galvanized hooks,” Pitchfork said it’s “as insistent as [landmark album] Dirt,” and the Seattle Times wrote, “Jerry Cantrell, William DuVall, Mike Inez and Sean Kinney continue to defy expectations” and that “Alice In Chains is better than ever.”
Over the course of their remarkable career, Alice in Chains has garnered multiple Grammy nominations, sold more than 20 million albums worldwide and amassed a diehard international fanbase whose members number in the millions. They remain one of the most successful and influential American rock bands of all time.

I can’t wait to see everyone at the shows.”

Glenn Hughes will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as part of the mark III line up of Deep Purple on April 8th. He spent key years of his career as the beloved bassist and vocalist of the group, recording on the classic albums: Burn, Stormbringer, and Come Taste The Band. Hughes and other members of Deep Purple will be in attendance to receive the honor. This will mark the first time in 30 years that all the members have been in the same room together, some have never even met. Other inductees include Cheap Trick, Chicago, N.W.A, and Steve Miller. The ceremony will take place at the Barclay Center in Brooklyn, NY and will be recorded and broadcast via HBO at a later date.
Vocalist/bass guitarist/songwriter Glenn Hughes is a true original. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. Stevie Wonder once called Hughes his favorite white singer. The first important band Hughes was a member of that achieved notable success was Trapeze. In 1973, Hughes joined Deep Purple. The trailblazing hard-rock legends had just weathered the departure of vocalist Ian Gillan and bass guitarist Roger Glover, but guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, keyboardist Jon Lord and drummer Ian Paice continued with the addition of Hughes and David Coverdale. Since 1992, Hughes has toured extensively in Europe, Japan and South America in support of solo albums, but more recently has been involved with award winning supergroups’, Black Country Communion with guitar star Joe Bonamassa, keyboard player Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater) and drummer Jason Bonham, son of the late Led Zeppelin legend John Bonham and California Breed, who also featured both Hughes and drummer Jason Bonham.

“I am thrilled to announce that I will be on tour in the USA. My first leg will start on March 2 thru March 26.
On the agenda for the whole of 2016 is all about live shows, I have not done an extensive tour in quite some time and I feel now is the appropriate time, as my fan base is growing.
We have completed a sold out South American tour, and now playing across Europe.
Happy to announce that Doug Aldrich, Ex Whitesnake and Dio guitarist will be by my side. On drums will be my drummer of 8 years, Pontus Engborg, a powerhouse.
This is a Rock Show, my Power Trio, my career started in a trio, that band was Trapeze, who had success in the USA prior to my joining Deep Purple.
Here we go… see you down the front”.
Vocalist/bass guitarist/songwriter Glenn Hughes is a true original. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes’ calling card. He’s known as a singer’s singer. Stevie Wonder once called Hughes his favorite white singer.
Hughes, a native of Cannock, England, absorbed all kinds of influences, including early British hard rock, the Beatles and, most importantly, American soul and R&B. The sleek Motown sound from Detroit and the gritty Stax/Volt sound from Memphis left their mark on him.
The first important band Hughes was a member of that achieved notable success was Trapeze. The band’s early ’70s albums included Medusa, Trapeze and You Are The Music… We’re Just The Band.
In between his hectic schedule, Hughes also found time to publish a book, “Glenn Hughes : The Autobiography – From Deep Purple To Black Country Communion“, the Number 1 best seller is available in both hard and soft cover editions from all good retailers.
So make no mistake. The Voice of Rock never left the building.
