Following on from his recent announcement of a 2015 Solo Tour in Europe, GLENN HUGHES is excited to announce that DOUG ALDRICH (Revolution Saints & formerly Whitesnake, Dio) will join his Solo band as guitar player. Alongside Aldrich will be powerhouse Swedish drummer, PONTUS ENGBORG, with Hughes on bass & vocals, completing the Trio.
Commenting on the addition of DOUG ALDRICH to his Solo band, Hughes says:
My friendship with Doug started when he was playing with my dear friend, Ronnie Dio. Ronnie would always introduce me to his bandmates who were always family.
So, on a fateful night in May 2010, I was playing at a festival in Bologna, Italy. I asked Doug if he would like to join me to play a couple of Deep Purple songs. We went into my dressing room and went over the arrangements of the songs, and we were good to go. I introduced Doug to the stage, and we performed for the audience. It felt natural & full of energy. Doug is a world class guitar player and bona fide Rock Star.
I was impressed with Doug’s demeanor, both on and off the stage, hard-working, kind and loving, all the qualities that one needs to fulfill a fruitful life.
Our friendship continued as Doug joined Whitesnake, and I was happy knowing that my brother David Coverdale, would nurture Doug’s talent, and give him the love to share with ROCK fans globally.
Hughes continues:
On the fifth anniversary of Ronnie’s passing, I connected with Doug again, and we chose to talk and remember how much we loved and missed him. We both asked what we were doing musically, and then out of the blue I asked him if he would like to come and play with me and do some Shows.
The answer was… I’m in!
We are both very excited to bring the love to ROCK fans, and carry the message that ROCK is alive. For me, it’s time to get back onstage, it’s where I belong… see you soon!
Excited at joining Hughes’ Solo band for the 2015 Tour, guitarist DOUG ALDRICH added:
Glenn and I have been friends for years. I met him through the Dio camp as we were both very close to Ronnie.
We had played live together several times, first in Bologna, Italy for the Ultimate Guitar Festival, and most recently at the Jim Marshall 50 Year Memorial Concert at Wembley Arena in London.
I’ve had a huge respect for what he has accomplished, but to play with him was astonishingly cool.
So cut to a few days ago.
I was remembering Ronnie James Dio on the anniversary of his passing and posted on my Facebook Page about that night 5 years earlier in Bologna. I remember Glenn dedicating “Long Live Rock ‘n’ Roll“, to Ronnie. It was right out of the blue and little did we know RJD would pass the next day.
Glenn and I were both pallbearers at the funeral.
Glenn heard about the Facebook post and gave me a call, also asking if I was up for a little jamming… I said YES for sure I was!!
We both agreed, it was long overdue to do a run of dates together.
Glenn had dates and I signed on!
I’m very excited about it all. If you hear of Glenn in town… GO see him cause I’ll be there too!!

GLENN HUGHES, the legendary ‘Voice of Rock’, will be touring Europe in September & October 2015. The set which will showcase highlights from Glenn’s colorful career: Trapeze, Deep Purple, Black Country Communion, California Breed along with his own Solo material.
After being studio bound for the past few months and then touring with California Breed late last year, where I received the most incredible live audience reaction to my appearances while out with ALTER BRIDGE and SLASH, I felt it long overdue for a solo tour of my own. I’m looking forward to hitting the road with a brand new solo band and reaching out to as many fans as possible. It’s a real pleasure for me to be coming back to perform live.
Support for the tour is Jared James Nichols who recently released his debut EP, Old Glory & The Wild Revival.

Vocalist/bass guitarist/songwriter Glenn Hughes is a true original. No other rock musician has carved such a distinctive style blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk. That astonishing voice is Hughes’ calling card. He’s known as a singer’s singer. Stevie Wonder once called Hughes his favourite white singer.
Hughes, a native of Cannock, England, absorbed all kinds of influences, including early British hard rock, the Beatles and, most importantly, American soul and R&B. The sleek Motown sound from Detroit and the gritty Stax/Volt sound from Memphis left their mark on him.
The first important band Hughes was a member of that achieved notable success was Trapeze. The band’s early ’70s albums included Medusa, Trapeze and You Are The Music… We’re Just The Band. In 1973, Hughes joined Deep Purple. The trailblazing hard-rock legends had just weathered the departure of vocalist Ian Gillan and bass guitarist Roger Glover, but guitarist Ritchie Blackmore, keyboardist Jon Lord and drummer Ian Paice continued with the addition of Hughes and David Coverdale.
Since 1992, Hughes has toured extensively in Europe, Japan and South America in support of solo albums, but more recently has been involved with award winning supergroups’, Black Country Communion with guitar star Joe Bonamassa, keyboard player Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater) and drummer Jason Bonham, son of the late Led Zeppelin legend John Bonham and just last year, California Breed, who also featured both Hughes and drummer Jason Bonham along with newcomer guitarist Andrew Watt.
In between his hectic schedule, Hughes also found time to publish a book, “Glenn Hughes : The Autobiography – From Deep Purple To Black Country Communion”, the Number 1 best seller is available in both hard and soft cover editions from all good retailers.
So make no mistake. The Voice of Rock never left the building.

Vocalist, bass guitarist, songwriter Glenn Hughes is a true original.
He later joined trailblazing Deep Purple with Ritchie Blackmore and co. In the halcyon days, Purple headlined at the famous California Jam in front of 250,000 and toured the world on their own Boeing jet plane, ‘The Starship’. All of this was accompanied by cocaine psychosis, crack addiction and other excesses, before Hughes survived a clean-up-or-die crisis, and embarked on a reinvigorated solo career enriched by a survivor’s wisdom.
In addition to a prolific and successful solo career, more commercial recognition came when the KLF dubbed him ‘The Voice of Rock‘, featuring him on their international best selling hit single ‘America – What Time is Love?’. Glenn has also worked with the Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ Chad Smith and John Frusciante. One of the most important collaborations in Hughes’ career was when he began working with Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi on his first solo album ‘Seventh Star’. Glenn’s latest album, ‘First Underground Nuclear Kitchen‘, is the latest chapter in an extraordinary musical evolution, and is quite possibly the most compelling and positive musical statement in a distinguished career.
2010 saw Glenn recording and touring in a new supergroup project, Black Country Communion with guitar star Joe Bonamassa, keys player Derek Sherinian (Dream Theatre) and drummer Jason Bonham, son of the late Led Zeppelin legend John Bonham. The band released their debut album produced by Kevin Shirley (Aerosmith, Iron Maiden, Black Crowes, Page and Plant, Journey etc).
‘Glenn Hughes: The Autobiography From Deep Purple To Black Country Communion‘ is soon to be released. Glenn talks us through this whirlwind of a life with unflinching honesty and good humour.
The critically acclaimed Anglo-American rock supergroup Black Country Communion will kick-off their highly anticipated debut nationwide UK tour tomorrow evening at the Llandudno Cymru Arena in North Wales.
