Glenn Hughes ALIVE DRIVE update coming soon…

An update to the audio portion of the Alive Drive is due any day now, so be sure and keep an eye on it…

Live in Australia, on the 18th of June 2006 at Melbourne’s Manchester Lane, Hughes brought his unique brand of rock-funk to a new audience.

These live tracks document his first ever *Melbourne* solo show. Indeed, this is one of Britain’s greatest rock singers in acoustic mode; intimate and live, and his soulful, distinctive voice is in top-notch condition throughout: he pleads, he soars, he rocks and he croons.

– I Found A Woman
– This Time Around
– Nights In White Satin
– Last Mistake
– Frail
– Whiter Shade Of Pale

Preview EP Autobiography tracks

Foruli

An update from the publishers of Glenn’s upcoming autobiography, ‘Deep Purple and Beyond: The Life, Near Death, and Rebirth of a Rock Star’…

“The promo edit of the new Glenn Hughes tracks will be uploaded to our iPhone and Android apps at 15:00 GMT tomorrow, Saturday 26th June (7:00AM PDT / 10:00AM EDT). This will be the first place anyone will be able to hear the tracks, and they will be there for an hour only. The app is also the only place where you can currently see the design of the art print that will be sleeved with the EP in the boxed set of Glenn’s autobiography.

Glenn Hughes has made three brand new acoustic recordings for the EP which will be issued with the limited edition of his autobiography ‘Deep Purple and Beyond: The Life, Near Death, and Rebirth of a Rock Star’. The tracks are simply stunning, and we at Foruli are very excited to be releasing them.

The tracks are:

What Is a Woman’s Role [previously recorded by Trapeze]
Holy Man [previously recorded by Deep Purple]
Dying to Live [previously unrecorded new song]

The iPhone/Android app is available free of charge at www.road.ie/foruli and also through the iTunes store. Smartphone owners might want to download the app in preparation.

We are aware that not everybody has one of these phones, so we will be doing something similar on the web in a month or so.”

High Voltage with Heaven & Hell for Ronnie James Dio

Cannock-born rock star Glenn Hughes is to stand in for singer Ronnie James Dio in a special tribute to the heavy metal frontman who died in May.

Hughes, former bassist and singer with Deep Purple, will appear with Dio’s band Heaven & Hell, featuring members of the original Black Sabbath, at the High Voltage festival at Victoria Park in London, UK on Saturday, July 24th.

Dio, who died of stomach cancer on May 16, had been due to perform with Heaven & Hell at the event.

Now remaining members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice are set to play a one-off show to celebrate his life and work. The band will be completed by Hughes, who has also sung in Black Sabbath, and Norwegian singer Jorn Lande, who will both contribute vocals.

The band will use the event to raise funds for the Ronnie James Dio “Stand Up And Shout” Cancer Fund, which is committed to the early detection and prevention of cancer.

Hughes was a close friend of Dio’s for many years and performed a musical tribute at his funeral service in Los Angeles.

For more details on the fund and how to make a donation visit: www.ronniejamesdio.com.

The High Voltage festival is at London’s Victoria Park on July 24-25. Tickets are £135 (for weekend tickets) and £75 (for day tickets). For details visit: www.highvoltagefestival.com.
