Report from Sherm Horsley:
"I remember the '76 Deep Purple tour with Tommy Bolin; there was this creepy guy in the audience who shows up at all the gigs. He used to light candles and play air guitar dripping wax on everyone. He got punched and pushed a few times but he was unrelentless. The night of this show he started yelling, "Where's Ritchie?". Tommy got pissed because he was in the middle of a quiet part of a solo. There was an exchange of words, Tommy gave him the finger and sat on the edge of the stage ready to jump off. I could see Tommy's point of view."

Final Deep Purple MKIV concert - the band breaks up after this final show.
As PR man Keith Thompson was publicizing the recent 2008 return to Liverpool gig, a photographer Alan Perry came forward with some photographs of the fateful 1976 gig which effectively saw the end of Mark IV. Keith said: "I had only ever seen one grainy photo and heard one amateur recording of the gig on cassette tape so it was a true revelation when these came to light. More than anything though, were all looking forward to what Glenn can do in 2008. From the evidence of the gigs I saw recently in Eastern Europe, I think the Liverpudlians will be impressed!"
