Editorial Reviews:
Album Description 2008 digitally remastered edition of this Classic Rock album that has stood the test of time. A blend of classic Blues-based Rock fused with Soul, Funk and occasional heavier elements it marks the crowning glory of Trapeze. Recorded in 1970 just as the band changed from being a five piece to becoming a power trio (Glenn Hughes, Mel Galley and Dave Holland). With hindsight, you could say Trapeze were something of a budding super group with Hughes later joining Deep Purple , Galley joining Whitesnake and Holland joining Judas Priest. Medusa the album was written by the band members and produced by John Lodge, of the Moody Blues, and released on the Moodies own Threshold label. Ork.
One great power trioOctober 12, 2009 Adam Roller(Springfield, NJ USA) Glenn Hughes sings and plays great. So does the rest of the band.
And if ever there was someone who could have been the replacement for Bon Scott it would have been Glenn Hughes.
This album proves it unequiVOCALLY.
Great album from start to finish.
Did I say great power trio! If you are an AC DC fan don't hesitate.
My work is done now.
a hard rock classicMarch 12, 2009 B. E Jackson(Pennsylvania) Yup, Trapeze is quite the underrated band. Underrated because of their ability to write one great song after another while keeping the blues, funk, hard rock and tightness of the guitar playing in check the entire time.
Meanwhile you have a lead singer who might instantly remind some of classic Humble Pie because of the beautiful soulful sound in his voice. Medusa is considered the bands best album, and it may just be, though the follow-up is probably just as good and easily worth owning.
Since they don't make music like this anymore I'd say picking up this album is a very easy decision. Turn it up LOUD. There's no black cloud hanging preventing you from getting into a great rock album. Probably "Jury" is my favorite song. Just the riffs and vocals and the way the song seems to go by in an instant despite being a rather lengthy track. It goes by quickly because it's so GOOD.
We really should remember this band. They're too good to slip through the cracks and hopefully with over 30 reviews so far on amazon, that's a sign people won't forget about these guys.
medusa trapezeMarch 11, 2009 Karen G. Woodfin I had forgotten about this group until I came across them again on Amazon. Love this cd. I remember listening to this in high school. Lots of memories for me. great cd!
AWESOME!December 21, 2008 J. Fischer(Lone Star State) This is such a GREAT album & the Japanese Remastering on this edition makes the sound absolutely AWESOME! Well worth getting if you can ever find anyone that's willing to let loose of one...
If I recall correctly, these were completely sold out before they were even released.
FantasticOctober 31, 2008 Frank L. Cayton Jr.(Mobile, AL.) Have been listening to this hard rock wonder since the seventies. Never gets old. Most underrated band ever. Glenn Hughes has the greatest voice. Music and voice just blend together perfectly. I recommend this to everyone. A hidden classic.
