Here is a little story about about a session from the classic Trapeze album 'You are the Music... We're Just the Band'. We were contacted by Kirk Duncan who tells about the session he did for Trapeze. He was actually asked to join the band but turned the offer down!
Kirk Duncan: I play the electric piano on 'What Is Woman's Role'. My stint lasted for a three hour session and I was asked to do the session by someone at Threshold. I was in a band with Nicky James, who was on the label in those days and he was a friend of the Moody Blues and I later recorded the 'Bluejays' album with John and Justin, while they had their two-year break from the Moodies.
I arrived early evening at the Decca studio in West Hamstead and met Trapeze, who were really nice guys and they put me at ease straight away. They'd already got the backtrack and 'working' vocal on tape and wanted some nice electric piano on the track. So I worked through the track, got a piano arrangement worked out and laid down the track. It all went down so sweetly that the guys asked if I'd be interested in joining the band. I wasn't too well at the time and declined their very kind offer, although I was sad to do so, because they were clearly an excellent band.
Best wishes to Glenn! He went on to do pretty well for himself and proved what a great musician he is. I'm not surprised that Glenn has gone on to greater things. He simply had it all. That session was, for me, very special and was one of my better days in those years.
