Icon34 High Voltage Festival 2010 - ELP, ZZ TOP and loads more!

A new festival organised by Classic Rock magazine has just been announced.

July 24th and 25th in London's Victoria Park.

Headliners on 24th are ZZ Top.

On the 25th, Emerson Lake and Palmer play their only 2010 (and possibly last ever) show.

"a two-day festival featuring the very best in classic rock, progressive rock and metal, with over 30 acts over 3 stages."

And due to the campaign in the mag there are no booking fees on tickets!

Beginning now to give this a thought - should be worth it for the only ELP appearance alone, but the more those band names keep coming up, the more I really want to go!
Argent - seriously? Rod Argent AND Russ Ballard?

Keep those bands coming!

Ch.

Yes, Chris - Argent original line-up.

Argent, Russ Ballard, bassist Jim Rodford and drummer Bob Henrit team up for the first time since 1974.

Argent on the songs:

“we only got together yesterday for first time, over an Indian lunch, so it’s too early to say. We’ve only got about 50 minutes, so the set will probably select itself.

“We have to do God Gave Rock And Roll To You and Hold Your Head Up, and we will almost certainly do some of our favourites like Pleasure and Keep On Rollin’.”

As for any future plans, they remain up in the air.

“We shall just have to wait and see where this takes us.”

On the big advert in the paper he's 4th ranked on the bill, level with Foreigner and the newly added Bachman Turner.

Uriah Heep are now billed as performing Demons and Wizards.

Wishbone Ash are now billed as performing Argus.

Heaven and Hell are now shown as playing on Saturday 24th.

Currently listening to Shotgun Boogie on Trying To Burn The Sun by Elf

Frank, you said you were thinking of coming to the UK this year.

I would suggest the last 2 weeks of July

That sounds like an excellent idea Wolfy! Come visit us over here and get great live music into the bargain!!! We could have a GHPG contingent at the High Voltage Festival - and by then maybe there will be more news of release dates of the Black Country Album and we could invade the festival with promotional stuff for the new band and album and spread the word.........

It's a work in progress. First need to get the free time and then convince Maggie and see if she can get the time then...may be a much shorter visit than I would like...but...

That's exciting news.
I'm attending to HVF with my husband and probably, this will be the first time to see GH live!
I hope H&H(tribute show to RJD) and Transatlantic don't appear on stage at the same time.

Same 'hopes' here, Momo!
Judging from the schedule it should be fine, not counting the time though one will actually need to get from the Classic Rock to the Prog stage...

Cheers,
Christian
