Icon47 On The High Wire

Spotted this on the UK Amazon site...

Trapeze - On The High Wire (Castle Records / 2-CD)

...not sure what it is...perhaps a repackaged 'Greatest Hits' double-CD...if anyone finds out further details as the release date (June 16th) approaches, do let us all know here - thanks

Here's the cover art for this soon to be released Trapeze "Best Of"....if you know someone who needs an introduction...this would be an ok CD to get them, as it covers most bases from Medusa, You Are The Music... thru to Hold On and Live In Texas.

And the price is good too!

Having checked the song line-up on the forthcoming package,I am thankful that I bought all the Trapeze CD's when they were first available. I have noticed while browsing through Amazon that many of them are now deleted. The post-Glenn CD's were released by One Way Records here in the states at a third of the cost of the Japanese versions..which resulted in considerable teeth gnashing and hair pulling on my part!!

I am still smiling at the memory of hearing so many Trapeze tunes over the music system at the Hard Rock Hotel during my stay there for the Orlando gig. To hear tunes like Your Love Is Alright and Good Love (one of my personal favorites!)was almost surreal....something I will never forget!

Hi,

here's info from Sanctuary Records' Website:

Best remembered as the band from whom Deep Purple stole Glenn Hughes, power trio Trapeze began to amass a cult following among hard rock fans at the end of the 60s. Two of their classic live albums are repackaged here alongside their 1979 studio set Hold On.

Castle Music
Released 16/06/2003
Cat.No. CMDDD736

So it's Hold On, Trapeze Live & Live in Texas (1981) on 2 CDs.

Is that "Live in Texas" (1981) album,

the "Armadillo" one?

And it was pointed out to me that GH sings

(uncredited) on two of the "Hold On" tracks.

Thanks Mr. Preziosi......

Hello Grace,

Yes, the Dead Armadilloes and Live In Texas are one and the same. On the 1976 Trapeze album,Glenn sings lead on Chances and Nothin' For Nothing;his work went uncredited and I would guess that was because of legal reasons i.e. recording for another label.

Here's the back cover - a bit cheeky to include this image of Dave, Mel and Glenn - hope they're getting their dues for this release!

No, that's alright...."Trapeze Way Back To the Bone - Live" is Glenn, Dave and Mel on tour to promote "You Are the Music". Very good it is too, providing it's the same one I've got. It looks to be.

I am sure it is the same recording. That show was bootlegged for many years and it was great to finally have it made available a few years back. There are versions of that concert that also include "Jury" as well.

Seems like the label is trying to cover all the bases here with the various line ups. I have all this material already. While many fans will always see Trapeze as being Glenn Dave and Mel..I do enjoy the later recordings as well.
