Icon46 Live in Bulgaria 2009

Glenn is very happy to confirm that he has been invited back to KAVARNA, Bulgaria by his good friend Tsonko Tsonev, the Mayor of Kavarna, to perform a special free concert on Wednesday, May 6th, 2009. This is also the Bulgarian National holiday of St. George's Day.

The concert will take place in the evening at Dobrotitsa Square (Main Central Square).

This promises to be a very special show as part one of the set will be a unique and first time performance by Glenn of the entire BURN album in original album running order!!

Glenn has also been asked to officially open the national Bulgarian Marathon race which will take place in Kavarna on Saturday, May 9th. In previous years, the race was held in Sofia, and this will be the first year that the race will be held in Kavarna. The race will feature athletes from across the world taking part. Glenn and the band will not be amongst them!

Here is the link for Mr Tsonev's website www.kmetal.eu and for Kavarna www.kavarna.bg

Glenn is also scheduled to perform another free open air concert in Bulgaria, in KYUSTENDIL. The Mayor of Kyustendil, Mr Petar Paunov, has personally invited Glenn to play for the people in his municipality.

This will take place on Sunday, May 10th, 2009, at the Central Square Velbajd and start time will be around 8:00PM.

Here is the link for the Kyustendil municipality website:

Hello to all of you!

I am very happy that I will see Glenn again in my country!

David, if you don't mind I have two questions for you:
1. Will Glenn Hughes play whole Burn album also on the koncert in KYUSTENDIL, which is 4 days after the concert in Kavarna?
2. What will be the band of Glenn Hughes for this two shows in Bulgaria - will it be his own band, or it will be some bulgarian band?

Thank you in advance!
Greatings from Bulgaria!!!

Hi there, welcome aboard

1. No. Kavarna is the place to be for that special event
2. Yes, his own band.

Wow, this is the best news I got this year!
I'm so happy, and I hope to be there on both gigs and make a lot of pictures! Why not a meet-and-greet again!
To tell you the truth this was one of my wishes I made on the New Year's Eve - Glenn's concerts in Bulgaria! So now I can't wait until May!!!

Love you all
Manuella

P.S. Dani, we must absolutely meet!

I really hope so, lazy!

I love that song "What's going on here" and to hear it live performed by Glenn himself would be quite a treat!!!

It'll be around 8:30 or 9pm. Not sure as to the Marathon, although the promoter will make an announcement before hand!

Glenn Hughes to sing for free in Kyustendil

Quote:
The rock legend Glenn Hughes who will sing in Kyustendil, will close the festival “Balkan rock zone”, which will be held in Kyustendil 8 and 9 May.

Groups from Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia and Romania will participate in the rock marathon. The concert of Glenn Hughes, which fans all over Bulgaria and the neighboring countries are expected to attend, will start at 8 pm on 10 May on “Velbuzhd” square.

The legendary rock performer will arrive in Kyustendil a day earlier. The entrance is free for the audience. The fest is another music event which supports the initiative of the mayor Peter Paunov “Zone 50 without visa”. It supports the crossing and stay of Serbian and Macedonian citizens without visa on Bulgarian territory within the framework of the 50-kilometers zone from the border.

I hope Kavarna will remain attractive for tourists: Mayor

5 May 2009
FOCUS News Agency
Kavarna, Bulgaria.

Quote:
10,000 people visited the Cape of Kaliakra in the past three days, Mayor of the seaside municipality of Kavarna, Tsonko Tsonev told Focus News Agency.

He says that by the end of the holiday more than 20,000 people will visit Kavarna. "Now that the tourist season has not started yet, you can imagine the scale. This is very indicative and I hope this year the municipality will remain attractive for tourists with its cultural events and beautiful scenery," he said.

He says the official opening of the tourist season will be on June 1st when the municipality will host Emir Kosturica. In the summer Kavarna expects tourists from across Europe. The largest number of tourists will come from Romania. They will be followed by those from Russia, Belarus, England, Poland, Czech Republic and Slovakia.

Tsonev says the municipality has not felt the financial crisis yet and the evidence is the enormous interest in the upcoming rock concerts. In the summertime Kavarna will welcome Glenn Hughes, who will have a concert on Wednesday, Emir Kosturica, The No Smoking Orchestra, Headliner, Motley Crue, Scorpions, Dream Theater, Blind Guardian, Edguy, and Cynic.

On May 6th the municipality of Kavarna celebrates its town holiday.

Glenn Hughes Arrives to Bulgaria from Moscow

The Standart
Sunday, 10 May, 2009
Elena Angelova

Quote:
Directly from the Sofia airport, rock legend Glenn Hughes headed for Kyustendil where he is to give a charity concert tonight. The musician visited the Russian capital to sing at a private party.

In Kyustendil, he was accommodated at a cosy apartment at Strimon Spa Hotel. The rock veteran told his hosts that he was very tired and would prefer to rest and enjoy some recreation procedures before his gig tonight.
