Icon32 Russian Tour 2007!!!

Earlier this evening GLENN and his band played at Dom Oficerov in Petropavl Kamchatsky, Russia.

He opened the first night of the tour with the following setlist:

The Valiant Denial
Orion
Land Of Living
Mistreated
Coast To Coast
You Got Soul
Don't Let Me Bleed
Gettin' Tigher
You Keep On Moving
Steppin' On
Stormbringer

Encore:
Burn

Traditionally gigs in that part of the world are lot more Purple heavy, so it's good to see half the set containing new and more recent material

Icon32 Live in Vladivostok

Fesco-hall. 23.02.2007. Vladivostok.
Great perfomance! Actually it could be better but not in THAT place.
Crazy fans keeps BURN LP's in hands and not in vain - "Burn" was the last song.
They screamed "Oooooh, Glenn, O.K., all right!!!!!".
It's pity that show lasts just one hour and 20 minutes.

Glenn's Russia Tour

Hello!
Although there's been 'battle' among the 'reporters' of the tour i still think that there is not enough information. If it is possible can you brief us about every show in Russia? We want pictures too. How is Glenn? How is he and his band feeling? Is everything going OK?

So, please, don't keep us in suspense!

Have a nice day, everyone!

Well, keep in mind there's probably limited internet access in the hotels in certain cities, so be patient

Meantime (if you can read Russian), there's a report with pix from the Vladivostok show here

Lightbulb ? Huh ?

Along with all the other GHCPs, I'm looking forward to as many reports
- with photographs - from Glenn's wide-ranging tour of Russia.
And I'd love to know that GH actually has enough time between shows,
to take some really "snappy" photographs himself

That being said, can anybody translate the newspaper headline,
of the newspaper that Glenn is holding in the first post's picture?
Maybe it will explain the front page photo?

OK, I guess that I'm the official ax murderer around here,
but that picture looks to me, as if those 2 guys are fighting,
while trying to stab each other with knives in their hands.

In the words of the late, great, Marvin Gaye: "What's goin' on?"

Russian Tour

David, many thanks for the link (fortunately I can read Russian).

Grace, the newspaper headline reads "Caucasian Mutiny In the Russian Army"

Bye bye

Glenn

Well, one of my friends will give me some pictures from Glenn's show. I suppose to write a little article about perfomance.

Anyway our mass media tells that Hughes is better than Deep Purple.

Thanks for the translation of the newspaper headline,
supermanza. I appreciate your answer.......

But I still can't figure out the photograph of the 2 men with knives.
Are they trying to kill each other??????
Or is it some kind of really dangerous martial arts contest?????

Newspaper

You're welcome, Grace!

As for the rest I don't know. You'd better ask someone who lives in Russia and has probably read the newspaper, or at least knows what this is all about.

Maybe in the inner pages there is some material about Glenn, who knows?

As I know, Glenn's tour is pretty good. Our people likes him.
Some local newspapers write bull**** about mark III reunion. Furthermore they think that Paice and Lord join Glenn during tour.

As for newspaper's title in Glenn's hands it was an article about our army. It is a very bad place now, privates fight with each other very often. They do it with knifes and Kalashnikovs. Awful thing. That's why our youth do not want to be at army.

Icon32 Thanks....but terrible news

Thanks for answering my extra question, "Battle."
Too bad that your answer was so terrible.

Soldiers of "Rodina" should open up a history book,
and read what patriotic Russians did when the Grand Armee
de la Republique invaded in 1812.

And the defense of Leningrad, and the victory of Stalingrad,
during the Great Patriotic War, in my opinion, is unmatched
for bravery and courage against overwhelming odds.

And these 2 idiots in the picture, are fighting each other?
You're right to be disgusted at this insult to Russia's heritage.

I may be an American of Italian heritage,
but Russian history has fascinated me for years.............

For Grace

Unfortunately, our youth refuse it's own history. Our government don't care about anything and as a result we have personal violence in Army, decline in living standards, low birth rate and in fact no future at all.

You've faced "The Time of Troubles" Napoleon, Hitler, and communism.............
.............have a little faith that Holy Mother Russia will come through.

Millions of people around the world wish your country
a future of peace and prosperity. Take care, Battle.

Icon19 Sorry!

Sorry everyone... Not so much time for internet ! I have tried logging into that blog, but by some odd reason I couldn't! Anyways... I promise to write more later. During the tour I haven't got a chance just to sit and write down all I have to say on the topic, due to some personal reasons. I promise I will do my best soon tho. Ok let me just say that the Moscow show was a revelation.

Off for Kiev!

Moscow show

The set list was the same at all the gigs so far, except for the Samara show. I can't tell for sure, as i haven't asked the guys yet, but 'fans' report there was no 'Soul Mover' in the encore in Samara.
In Moscow there were about 700 ppl in the audience, the club absolutely packed. I guess the audience was great, I am sorry but I didnt pay much attention at anyone but Papa standing right in front of him. I can't describe how it felt like... just all the evening was fulfilled with love and soulfulness... Everyone was like... on fire, and the show really had a very special feel...
