Icon35 Glenn Hughes Live in Sydney

I hope this works. I have attempted to attach video of "This House" live at the Basement in Sydney. It features a short cameo from the plastic clip on my backpack but aside from that is OK. Please enjoy and I'll post some others as time permits.
cheers

Thanks for trying hughesfan - the file does have to be 50MB or less - my guess is it's larger? When you attach file, you'll see a list of supported file types and the maximum size they can be - so double-check what you have, can be uploaded successfully.

If you can't compress them yourself, feel free to stick them on a CD and mail to me, so I can do that for you and then put them up here - send me a PM for details.

Thanks.

Icon35 Hmmm

I had a sneaking feeling that I was a technological idiot. Now I have managed to confirm it! I'll give it another try after work tonight and see if I can redeem myself.

If not, I'll get a CD to David and leave it in the hands of the master.

Sorry to all for the disappointment

Cheers

2nd attempt

Hi Everyone,

Here's my second attempt at attaching a little bit of video. It is "This House" live at the Basement Sydney 17/06/2006. or 06/17/2006 depending on where you are. Unfortunately there is 10 second appearance by special guest Mr. Plastic Clip but aside from that it is OK.

Please enjoy.

Coming soon - when I have time to download, etc - Whiter Shade of Pale, Mistreated, This is How I feel, Frail and Soul Mover.

Cheers from your friendly techo-idiot

What he said......

It took me a minute to figure out that that's someone
(with their back to the video camera) playing a cello.
Incredible how good Glenn sounds singing acoustic.
No "big music sound" to hide behind, just talent - loud and clear.

Glenn:
John and George must be smiling, listening to "This House."

Hi everyone

I am so glad that you enjoyed the first clip. YOu get an appreciation of how I felt sitting there watching it. I'll never, ever forget it!! Here's another couple of songs which I managed to download into the right format/length. Quite magnificent.

I should apologise for the sameness of the camera angle and for the various "walk throughs" from official camera people, etc but I did my best under the circumstances.

Enjoy (or if you were there, re-live the moment). More soon.

cheers

Sorry hughesfan - for some reason it won't play for me.

The great thing is that you and a few other GHCPs FINALLY got to hear, feel and meet our 'bass player, singer, genius' who quite a few of us on here have been raving about constantly for a few years

Somewhere along the line I'm sure I'll get to see your precious videos

Hi hughesfan!! Thank you for the clips!!

As always when I see him perform, there were some new findings.

Nobody today can sing "A whiter..." as Glenn does!

Glenn is very very good at playing the Guitar and singing at the same time.

With strings, the songs reminded me of super Beatle tunes!
(Now I strongly wish to see him sing Strawberry or Rigby, etc with strings)

Glenn doesn't need any loud backing band when his music tells everything.

As far as the errors are concerned, I think the clips are first to be filed/downloaded and then to be played.

If you just click to play, it may not work. Please try to download them first.

For those having troubles viewing - you need the latest version Windows Media Player installed - can be gotten from Microsoft's site.

As Tony suggests, it's always better to download directly to your PC (right click, save as) vs. trying to stream from here directly (by just clicking the link). But keep in mind, this all works depending how your media player is configured on your PC - so it'll work for some and not for others. Also, Mac users need a plugin for the .wmv format to play.

Shirean and I are out of town, so currently unable to help or convert to other formats, so can only offer those suggestions for now. But they play fine for us from here Thanks again to hughesfan

Folks, here's another one I managed to get sorted last night. Also, a funny bit of commentary when Glenn was talking between songs.

I still have a couple more to do including Soul Mover and Getting Tighter with Jimmy Barnes on vocals. I'll also post a short excerpt from You Keep on Movin' but not the whole song due to a battery issue on the night.

I am sorry to those people who are having trouble. I really want you to be able to share the experience.

cheers

Those are great - Thank you very much!
The strings and Hammond Organ on Whiter Shade are phenomenal - I don't have to mention the singing, do I?
What a teaser for the DVD!

But actually I also have the (stupid) question of the day, I guess:
Who's the keyboard player?

Cheers,
Christian

Again, absolutely oustanding performance and clips, hughesfan! This is exceptional! Thanks again for sharing these great moments!
Would be really interesting to know who the keyboarder is. He did a great job too.
Hearing the fat, swirling hammond organ sound is truely something I deeply miss on the new album, to be honest ....

cheers, Achim

Keyboard player is Lachlan Doley. In great demand as a session player and you can see and hear why. You can find out more about him and his band if you check out this link

www.thehandsmusic.com

Check out the sample of "Live and Breathe" available on the home page. For those that love the funky, bluesy, jazzy, late-night Glenn, this will tickle your fancy.

Cheers

Thanks for the info.
I listened to the song on their website and its GREAT!! Wow, deeply impressed by this!
Hearing the fat clavinet, hammond and the smooth backings are something that brings me back to the good ole times...awesome.

The style of playing reminds me a bit of the jazzy tunes by Vince di Cola, who was more than only an outstanding keyboarder who worked with Glenn on BTM.

Interesting enough to see a picture of Kara Grainger on the website, which is a wonderful musician. On HER CD old chaps like Reggie McBride (Stevie Wonder & Tommy Bolin Band) were playing beside Gary Ferguson on drums (GH drummer occasinally and on some albums).

Very interesting relations....

cheers, Achim

Mistreated.......

Violins and cellos during "Mistreated"?
JJ brilliantly playing in a Pat Methany-sounding style?
Extra richness from the keys?
Being able to hear each note from "the bass player"?

The usual, commonplace, ( ) GH singing?
This is probably the finest version of "Mistreated" that I've ever heard.
Who do I have to kill to get a CD or video of this show?

PS........Thanks so much for posting all of this, hughesfan.

Grace
