David: Afternoon all!

David: Looks like we're off to a slow start again today.....most folks usually show up in a little while. Shirean will be here in a minute.

englishrob: yeah, seems a bit quiet

David: So next time we see eachother I'll be sure and have a natter.....wasn't until recently I realized you're the same rob I've seen post gigs....sorry about that!!

englishrob: lol, no problem

David: yeah it's only been the last 2 UK solo tours + HTP...better late than never!

englishrob: not too sure when the next show will be though

David: probably next Summer

Shirean: How are you?

englishrob: i'm good thanks...a bit tired as i've been working early's

David: so how was Spain anyways, we were thinking about it, but decided it against at the last minute. Seems like everyone had a really good time.

englishrob: yeah, it was a blast...the crowds were very responsive

David: ...and it looks like Glenn will be filling that passport up of his again very soon!

englishrob: yeah, i hear that Australia could be on the cards

David: yeah, it sounds like it's really going to happen, which is great news.

englishrob: and "Soul Mover" will be released there soon

Shirean: I don't think GH has ever played Australia as a solo artist - correct me if I'm wrong.

David: sounds like "Nights In White Satin" has gone down really well there too, so it's great they're able to include it as a Bonus.

englishrob: probably not....it's such a long trip

David: you're right luv.

englishrob: most bands tag it on after a japanese tour

David: So Lazy, you're from Bulgaria right?

Lazy: Yes, I am

David: must seem quite sometime since you saw GH. But looks like we'll have a new album to listen to just after Spring time next year.

Shirean: Yes indeed I can't WAIT!

Shirean: GH has a tenitive title for the CD.. But its TOP SECRET for the moment..

englishrob: any news on JJ's cd?

captmidnite1962: Hi Shirean....had enough of hurricanes already??

David: It's going to work out nicely, as the Chili Peppers record comes out a couple of months beforehand, so once the new one is out, the Peppers are going to be on everyone's lips, so hopefully it'll get even more recogition than "Soul Mover".

David: Chad is a cool guy, you may think that we're all GHCP'ers, but he has just as much right to that title, even John Frusciante so i'm told.

Shirean: Yes - I miss the SF FOG!!

captmidnite1962: That is great news...

captmidnite1962: I did love the climate out there...it seems so long ago that I lived there

Shirean: Its a balmy 81 here today!

captmidnite1962: When I flew out to see Glenn at Brookdale....so much had changed in 10 years..I felt like Rip Van Winkle!!

captmidnite1962: I hope Shirl shows up....she was so kind to send me those Classic rock mags!

David: yeah, coincidentally we got ours in the mail yesterday, so put up that Bolin article

captmidnite1962: You can get it by subscription here in the US?

David: yeah, it's expensive $100 a year I think....we have a friend get it for us though.

captmidnite1962: Hmm..you have cool friends!!

David: actually, think it's for 6 or so issues not a year....can't remember.

Shirean: Why so quiet Lazy?

David: we unsubscribed sometime ago.....only ask for issues that have something relevant in them.

captmidnite1962: I understand that....that is a lot of money!

Lazy: Because I write very slow in English

Shirean: I understand

David: we've been playing ROCK and BTM a lot recently, would be nice to hear some of those songs live....

David: ....like "This Life", "Angela", "Inside", "Out On Me"....

Shirean: The next time I'm at a GH gig I'm gonna request that he play "Inside" !

captmidnite1962: There was a thread about production....if any of Glenn's CD's could be called over-produced....ROCK would marginally qualify...A favorite of mine though!

captmidnite1962: "Inside" would kick!!

David: especially with Chad on drums - he would kick arse, as they say back home!!!

David: and with Kjell on keys....yeah, they could easily play it live

captmidnite1962: Yes he would....what an engine room he is!!

captmidnite1962: Y'know..I STILL have to get a copy of SLITCOA....is the new edition that much of an improvement??

David: The USA edition is a great improvement, but still has the odd sync issue, but it's hardly noticable compared to the original release - just wish they'd run a spell check on the song titles!!

David: seriously though, him and Glenn are talking nearly everyday, wouldn't surprise me if this develops to something, although I doubt for a little while longer.

captmidnite1962: Do we want to specualte on that???

captmidnite1962: That would be cool

Lazy: I don't understand very well - his style is different for me.

Shirean: Sorry not a big Coverdale fan here

David: I don't know. It's just cool they're still good friends after all these years. You can see Glenn mentions him....on the message he posted over at gh.com...so they're talking.

David: baby steps and all that....

captmidnite1962: I always preferred the Moody/Marsden era myself

Shirean: Me too.

captmidnite1962: And it is cool that Bernie and Micky are still playing together

David: yeah me too. His voice seems shot to me these days, unless I caught it on a bad day when listening to a few boots of the recent tours. It seems his band covered for him most of the time, especially on the Purple numbers.

captmidnite1962: Talk about peas in a pod!

captmidnite1962: I saw WS in 1987..and again at Shoreline in 1990

David: can't seem to get those high notes/screams like he used it, whereas Glenn can do it in his sleep, better now, than ever!

Shirean: I saw them in the UK in 1983,1987

Shirean: 1987 Day On The Green

captmidnite1962: I never liked his ventures into Robert Plant territory...the lower end of his voice was always cool though

Lazy: I saw them in 1997 and 2003

Shirean: David - Bill has been to Shoreline

captmidnite1962: And at the end of Mistreated...Glenn sounds so much like DC with the low end of his voice it is chilling!

captmidnite1962: Yes I was...WS and Bad English

David: We were living in the UK that year, probably would have bumped into you otherwise!!

Shirean: The best time I had at Shoreline was in the bar for Alice Cooper

captmidnite1962: I was up in the lawn area...

David: yeah, that's why we headed for the bar - TV monitors were showing the gig live....why be uncomfortable

captmidnite1962: Caught a few shows during my 2 years there..The Who..Jeff Beck and SRV...

Shirean: Our seats were crap

Lazy: I give you that link above because I didn't understand very well what says DC about Glenn

captmidnite1962: Now That was a killer show!!

David: he was just saying that he was supposed to catch up with him in person in LA last week, but they missed each other. That's what I read briefly.

David: Hope to get the CalJam DVD in a couple of weeks, hopefully Air Mail won't delay it. From what I've heard it came out really good.

David: funny you should ask Bill. Just got an email from him today. He's still trying to get a distribution deal sorted, as he'd prefer not to have to do it himself. He'll know soon if it's going to happen, and if not, will do it himself. We hope to have more news on that shortly.

David: just talking about the latest GH news, JJ, DC and others...

captmidnite1962: Who says the fretless bass can't rock???

chrisloeb: Great, I just bought a fretless bass recently

chrisloeb: actually I bought one back I had sold a couple of years ago, fortunately to a friend of mine

captmidnite1962: Really?? What kind??

chrisloeb: It's a 1981 Ibanez "Musician" model

chrisloeb: great neck!

captmidnite1962: I was watching the Cream reunion DVD..Jack brings out the Warwick halfway through

captmidnite1962: He started the show with an old EB-1...

chrisloeb: I thought that was funny, yet very consequent - he had been playing the Warwick for more than 20 years!

captmidnite1962: he said in the interview that he actually toyed with the idea of playing the old EB-3....that didn't last

captmidnite1962: Both basses sound great!!

chrisloeb: I'd love to have one of those, and yet I don't. I think they're really good for toying around (and for the look of them, of course). I have an Ibanez lawsuit copy of that as well, I have used it for gigs, but it's definitely dated

chrisloeb: the short and thin necks are great to play chords and show off a little though

captmidnite1962: Ibanez got their start as a copycat company...but they were damn good copies..too good....got them in trouble

chrisloeb: I know - I love them!

captmidnite1962: I saw an Ibanez Rick 4001 copy for sale...you would never know the difference

chrisloeb: no, you don't - only at closer inspection

captmidnite1962: Shirl gave me the address of a killer T-shirt company in the UK..they have some Glenn shirts there

Shirean: Which tours?

captmidnite1962: The one they had has Glenn playing a Rick...so '73-74

chrisloeb: I'm looking fo the receipt Captain, I bought a Moog T-Shirt from them a couple of days ago...

David: No, it's a Fender Precision, maple on black

David: got it in '79 - decided to keep hold of it....don't play it anymore, so it looks cool in the corner.

Shirean:

captmidnite1962: Recently a statue of Phil was dedicated in Ireland

chrisloeb: Yeah, I couldn't travel....

Shirean: I saw that on the net - very cool

Shirean: I had the pleasure of meeting him in 1983

chrisloeb: But hopefully a DVD of all the events will be released someday

captmidnite1962: Yes..in Dublin..and all the Lizzy alumni put on a concert

Shirean: Nice guy

chrisloeb: I think you've mentioned Shirean, but I don't remember the circumstances?

Shirean: Even though him and Gary Moore called me "Rice Legs", 'cuz of my thin LEGS !!

captmidnite1962: I bet you are taller than Gary, Shirean!!

chrisloeb: yeah, Gary seems to be gentleman, They call him scars, you know where that comes from

captmidnite1962: Where??

Shirean: Yes, I met them when I was a young 19 year old

chrisloeb: circa mid-Seventies, slashed by a "girlfriend" with a broken bottle as the legend says

Shirean: I met them in a nightclub in London called "The Funny Farm"

captmidnite1962: I see..never heard that story!

Shirean: I first met David that Summer too!

captmidnite1962: I am flashing on when Glenn's Mom met David...she said, "Aren't you Gary?"

Shirean: I was there, it was so funny!

captmidnite1962: I bet it was!!

Shirean: I used to tell David he looked a lot like Gary

captmidnite1962: He does..but taller!!

Shirean:

chrisloeb: he obviously doesn't nowadays though.

David: yeah, it took me a few minutes to explain I wasn't him. It was cool, we had a very nice chat!

captmidnite1962: I remember David saying that when you look at Sheila Hughes you see Glenn totally

David: Captn' if you look at page 53 of Classic Rock you have you'll see McBrain wearing one of those clubs t-shirts back in the '80s....what Shirean was talking about a minute ago.

Shirean: Todd was telling me he was going to see Moore in the UK in March - I kindly offered my mint never worn 'Wild Frontiers' tour shirt for him to wear..

chrisloeb: David, are you still "cleaning out the closet" and transferring the video tapes?

David: Practically all down now Christian, it's taken nearly 6 months, but we've made it!!

David: it's not finally decided yet, but he's leaning heavily towards one particular one.

Toddzilla: Why doesn't he just make it a contest on the site? Winning title gets a prize pack.

David: Seriously, JJ mentioned he might do some local shows in Sweden with Albatross, but probably not until their 'debut' album comes out, and he has no idea when that might be due to his schedule. But he's writing for it. We hope to have an update soon, as that info is a couple of months old, so things have no doubt changed since then.

tony g: thats probably about all that will happen

Toddzilla: Damn, Sweden is a bit far for Chip and me...

Shirean: And me

chrisloeb: I recently found out that there already was a band called Albatross, mid-seventies group influenced by bands such as Genesis and Yes. What a coincidence!!!???

chrisloeb: well, the other Albatross even released an album in 1976. I'll try and find a copy....

Toddzilla: Usually it's the other way around.

chrisloeb: Sheryl Crow at The Budokan for example - Japan only, killer - much bette rthan the wordlwide Live record she released at a later stage

Toddzilla: There's something wrong with Christmas being only a month away, and yet I can walk outside and see kids in shorts and sandals playing while their fathers are mowing the lawn. It's just not right.
