Another from our Archives that you might enjoy

This features the then almost married (had 2-year engagement) - Lita Ford & Tony Iommi - showing off their fretboard chemistry live on November 20th, 1984 backed by Chuck Leavell (Keyboards), Kenny Aaronson (Bass) and Michael Shrieve (Drums) performing at a "Guitar Greats" show at the Capital Theater in Passaic, New Jersey, USA.

Others on the bill that night included Neal Schon & Jonathan Cain (Journey), David Gilmour (Pink Floyd), Johnny Winter, Brian Setzer (Stray Cats), Dave Edmunds, Link Wray and Steve Cropper.

I remember watching this when it originally aired and thinking how bad those two sounded with their horrible guitar tones as they made a sad attempt at a blues jam. I like Iommi, but this was just awful. Gilmour and Schon were great at that show, though. I'm sure I still have the whole show on VHS somewhere.

But I do like your "archived video" posts, so don't stop putting them up!!!

Hey Jon.....yeah, I hear 'ya I also enjoyed seeing Neal Schon again, it's been a long time since I've heard him play that. I'm also a Journey fan (the early stuff especially), and so enjoy his playing.

Here's a brief snippet of the Schon/Cain performance

Hey Shirean,

How about a little more information on that Schon clip?
Like if there's a live CD of that performance, or the title
of the song that they were playing? Or was it a "jam?"

Thanks...............
Grace

Sorry Grace, don't have any titles of what they played. It was filmed by MTV in November 1984 and was first aired February 1985. Don't think they've ever released it - either on CD, VHS or DVD. So it's rare (I think)!!

BOO HOO, Shirean.
That was a beautiful piece of emotional music.
I'm sorry that it isn't available.

(Yep, a crying guitar, followed by a screaming guitar,
has always worked for me.)

Thanks for the fast answer, though!
Grace

On the rocking portion of the clip, part of that riff appears on the Soul SirkUS album - interesting, because they're 20 years apart!

The song title escapes me right now...I'll have to go back and have a listen.

Cheers....Todd

It's funny you mention that - when I saw the video again, it reminded me of about 5 or 6 Soul Sirkus tracks....you can hear smatterings of riffs thought the video. Anyway, I think the obvious one is what turned out to be My Sanctuary - take a listen for a quick comparison, 30 secs each - Guitar Greats riff first, then Soul Sirkus.

Hey, that's cool, it's original stuff and didn't appear on anything up until this Soul Sirkus release, so he's not ripping anyone off Just don't suppose he thought some nutters would find him out after all these years

Hi Toadsterama & David
At last got to hear the brilliant video clip Shirean provided & yes, that rock riff did sound like a familiar Soul SirkUS track - Have had the superb World Play CD on this morning while painting & the track in question is "Praise".
Grace, as you like cryin' then screamin' guitar, take a listen to the World Play CD if you get a chance, some good examples on there
Cheers
Ben
