Sounds like a great time, and a great show. Would like to have seen Dark Star or Change Yourself in the set list. Can't wait to see some pictures of the gang in the audience!

I was intending to pick both of these up at the Edinburgh show. Is there going to be an alternative way to buy these for people that miss the opportunity on the tour?

Great Pics Dave-

Thanks I knew you would come through for us as soon as you could! (been waiting)

Noticed Glenn was playing that Jazz styled Schecter...was there no use of his new Manne guitar?

Looking forward to more from you and others- gosh, I wish I was out there with you all!

Glenn said at the gig last night that he had a problem with his basses whilst travelling over. Don't know what exactly cos he didn't elaborate so he had to dig out the bass you saw on Davids pics. The gig was fantastic.

The sound for Glenns vocals was the best I've ever heard so far. My wish came true, they did a spine tingling version of 'let it go'. I reckon you would have loved it Mark.

Smile my review

Dont you ever sleep David!

i thought i'd be the first review on here. Anyway, here's my thoughts on last night:

OH MY GAWD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

An awesome show.

The Voice of Rock just gets better & better – singing, playing, writing. He even looks leaner and fitter than ever.

My official copy of Soul Mover arrived this morning so I saw the show without having heard the music (other than the video) before. And hey, this new stuff is great and really works live. There were six, YES SIX, songs from SM.

Cant stop the flood sounded much crunchier than previously JJ said to me later that Glenn only decided the day before to include Medusa.

This is the kind of setlist that Glenn should have been doing a lot more in the last few years – Two DP maximum and the rest solo material. Now that he has real confidence and belief in SM he is really going out there and showing what a great songwriter he is. This new stuff went down really well with a full house. High Road, Orion and SM really got everyone jumping.

Glenn said that he spoke to Gene Simmons a couple of weeks ago and he told him he got some of his stage moves from watching Trapeze over 30 years ago. Amazing.

JJ played a Flying V all night. He had a really crisp, clean sound. He used a new special effects control which I can only describe as “Crazy, weird sounds”!

Overall the sound quality was much better than the previous solo and HTP shows at JB’s. JJ saidy they are using a new sound guy for this tour. Thomas as usual was a powerhouse on the drums. This guy can really give it some welly.

The SM cd was available for £12. SM tour shirts, black only, with full dates on the back and a picture of a long haired Glenn from the 70’s on the front were £15.

Also for £15 they had the “76” shirts that were available during the Legends Tour with Jack Bruce in Purple or Black. There was even a “skinny fit” version for the ladies. There were also some limited edition posters for £3.

It was good to see a few people wearing the white GHPG shirt there. Special mention to Ian (Cameronip) who travelled all the way down from Glasgow for the show and then drove all the way back after. Your description of yourself was spot on!

Glenn didn’t do any signing or anything as the show ran an hour late due to both support bands doing their full slot. He was due on at 9.30 but didn’t make it till 10.30 and then played till midnight. However, I got the chance of a very brief chat and photo when he left JB’s - thanks to David & Shirean.

But Glenn, i need another photo cos i didnt realise how daft i looked wearing the shirt David gave me over the top of my other one

If anyone spots me or David at the Northampton show next Saturday then come over after the show and say hello.

Todd,

I forgot to mention that Chip has got you a few goodies - but i wont spoil the suprise.

Weissheim, I spoke to one of Glenns guys after the gig and he said they may be taking details from people who want FFF so it will be worth going up to the tshirt sales area and asking about it

Well, I got home safe from my 554 mile round trip from Glasgow to Dudley at quarter to six this morning (horrendous traffic jams on the M6 at half one in the morning!). Was it worth it? Of course it was. Glenn was on blistering form.

I was delighted to hear six songs from Soul Mover. Glenn has never had such confidence in a new album to play so many new songs. It was a slightly shorter set than normal but I think that was to do with the terribly late start time. Glenn wasn't on until just after half ten!

I know I'm being very picky to make a slight criticism, but I will anyway. Outwith all of the new songs there were no surprises. All of the other songs have been regulars in the live set in recent years. I know that six new songs would have taken a lot of rehearsing so it seems that the other songs were chosen as they were ones that that line up have played together previously.

Of the very old material the only one I would leave in the set is Mistreated. Last night's version was probably the best I've ever heard. With regards to Burn (yes it's a timeless classic rock song), I've lost count of the number of live versions I have of that song on CD. Glenn has played it almost every time I have seen him live. I really think it is time Glenn put that song to rest.

Glenn didn't come out to do any meet and greet after the show. I think that was partly due to the late time and the fact that the police shut the club down early. (I shouldn't be too critical as that's what I do for a living!) But I was then speaking to someone in Glenn's road crew who said that it was unlikely that Glenn would be meeting fans after any show on this tour due to the tight timescales and schedule. That's very disappointing. He also told me that they may have some sort of ordering process in place for the Freak Flag Flying CD by the Edinburgh show.

I was lucky enough to put faces to three of the regular names on this board:Wolfysmith, Chip, and Shirl. Great to meet you folks!

Overall another awsome show from Glenn. Looking forward to Edinburgh where my wife will get her first live GH experience.

Ian

Did anybody else spot Tony Iommi entering the building just before The Lizards came on last night. Thought he might of stepped on stage for the encore of Seventh Star.

Tony was hovering by the sound desk for the whole of the Lunar Mile set - I believe its his daughter who is the vocalist. She was certainly getting a lot of attention - possibly due to the outfit she was wearing.

I have to say, I kept waiting for Tone to step out during 7th star as well. Just have to wait for the tour later in the year (?).

And just how bad were The Lizards ? Bad, Dreadful or complete sh*te?

While I'm on a downer, big disappointment of the night was the no-show of "Written all over your face" which stole the show last time. Its not like its an "oldie" we've been asking to be dropped is it? I guess it wouldn't fit with the other new ballads.

And no guesses what JJ got for Xmas! He couldn't stop fiddling with those knobs could he?

By the way, Grace, Chip endured a ten hour flight and three hours of driving to get to the show from Phoenix. Cameronip will have to share that first prize trophy

Todd,

David & Shirean met Tony backstage.

Also, Chip had a chauffeur drive him to and from the show.......me!

Grace, just to make you jealous, Lea didnt go to the show - she stayed behind playing with Lucy.

Not only that, Wolfy, but I hear you stopped just short of building a new addition to your home to accomodate Mr. & Mrs. Chip. Chauffeur service too? If you tell me you were at Heathrow to pick them up when they arrived, then you'll truly take the cake!

Cheers...Todd

After JB's

My first Glenn gig and it was awesome.. Big thanks to Mel Galley and Mrs Galley for taking time out to chat with us and for enduring my constant camera snapping, also to John Hackney who was the perfect host and, best of all, who introduced us to Glenn and the band after the show.. Unforgettable (from what I remember ). Ian – thanks for putting up with me over the last few weeks in the run-up to the gig. Love ya.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Glenn and the boys for a superb show, and particularly to Glenn himself for being so gracious and welcoming afterwards - you really made Debs' night/week/year! My signed copy of 'Hughes Thrall' definitely takes pride of place on the CD rack.

Good turnout, great atmosphere and superb sound. We both had a great night . . . thanks in a large part to Glenn's old mates, the Johns H & O.

Meeting Mel Galley was cool too, but didn't spot Tony Iommi.

Cheers

OK, OK, all you annoying people:

#1. First prize for the longest distance traveled
from a foreign country - air miles included.........Chip

#2. First prize for the longest distance driven in one day/
round trip (from Glasgow to Dudley)............cameronip

#3. First prize for being the most multi-talented GHCP,
based on "bed and breakfast" quality accomodations,
new bedroom furniture carpentry construction, and
tourist-level chauffeur ability.............wolfysmith

#4. First prize for the best reason.....not......to attend a
Glenn Hughes concert (to play with that little sweetie
pie, Lucy Hannah)..........Lea

AND........

#5. First prize for correctly guessing what song is being
sung by Glenn and the audience in the above photo.......ME
(Since obviously, Glenn is leading the audience in a stirring
rendition of: "The itsy-bitsy spider went up the water spout.")

So Shirean and David, make that.....5.....of the new GH
bass guitars for us winners. Wrap 'em up.

PS.........Thanks for pointing all this out to me, Todd.
I'll send you a picture of me with my new GH bass guitar.
(And seriously, thanks again to everyone who posted
these great photographs!)

Ohh man !!..Was there all day as i work there. Brilliant day as met glenn again after a long time of not seeing "The Voice" I'm just glad i got his well favoured drink sorted in the fridge Decaf Cocacola Gold haha.

Anyways Fantastic kick off gig, Sounded awesome, his voice was very very top notch "as always" And yehh i saw Iommi by the desk, and it was highly rumoured he would play, even Carl, Glenn's PA said to me he was gonna pop on..but alas no

Afterwards Trish & myself went backstage spoke to all the band, Glenn as always very cool and laid back, signed our back stage passes, kissed my girl 3 times She loved it, mind ya, she made tea 'n coffee for all the crew and band all day so she deserved those.

But to all the bands..Thankyou so much for a great day, and an even better night.

Hope we see you again soon Glenn..Be Safe Buddy..
