Cool Idol Tichy

Well that's certainly one thing you can't call Brian Tichy!

I was flipping thru the cable channels this morning and who do I see banging away on his kit but Brian at the MTV-20 year bash. He's currently playing on the Billy Idol tour.

Also found a snippet from a recent interview on playing with Glenn a few months ago...

You played with Glenn Hughes on his US tour. How did you feel playing in a power trio with the "Voice Of Rock"?

I HAD A GREAT TIME. WE ONLY PLAYED 3 SHOWS BUT IT WAS TOTALLY COOL. GLENN IS HYSTERICAL. HE WAS A BLAST TO BE WITH ON THE ROAD. I LOVED PLAYING THE OLD DEEP PURPLE STUFF, AND GLENN LOVES FUNK, AS I DO. SO WE GOT INTO SOME GOOD GROOVES. HE'S AN AMAZING SINGER, AND BASS PLAYER. HE PULLS THEM BOTH OFF AT THE SAME TIME, EFFORTLESSLY.

Icon33 Velvet touch!

Yet another connnection to GLENN in the news - in fact two, as Matt Sorum played on Feel back in '95 .

Brian Tichy will be playing six (or possibly seven) shows with VELVET REVOLVER beginning August 11th. He'll be filling in for Matt Sorum, who suffered a fractured hand as the result of a recent boating accident and will miss the first few shows of their tour.

VELVET REVOLVER w/ Brian Tichy on drums:

Aug. 11th - Mt. Pleasant, MI - Soaring Eagle Resort
Aug. 12th - Columbus, OH - Germain Amphitheater
Aug. 13th - Chicago, IL - Tweeter Center
Aug. 15th - Greenbay, WI - Oneida Bingo Casino
Aug. 17th - Springfield, IL - Illinois State Fair
Aug. 20th - Las Vegas, NV - Aladdin Resort & Casino
Aug. 21th - Tucson, AZ - Valencia Anselmo Amp. *

* It is not presently clear if Tichy or Sorum will play this show

Brian Tichy had previously toured with VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash (ex-GUNS N' ROSES) in 1995 in support of the debut album from Slash's post-GN'R solo band, SLASH'S SNAKEPIT.

Tichy is scheduled to start the next run of BILLY IDOL shows in Canada on August 25th. Sorum is currently in physical therapy and plans to resume playing with VELVET REVOLVER on the first date of Ozzfest (August 23th at the Journal Pavilion in Albuquerque, NM).

Tichy also co-wrote and co-produced some of the tracks on Idol's recent comeback album Devil's Playground.

The Devil's Playground Tour (don't forget, Steve Stevens is playing guitar ) surprisingly also includes a show here in Vienna, December 5th, as rumours say.

And contrary to his time with Big Daddy G (didn't know he only played 3 shows - know of any recordings?), the hair's very short today

Cheers,
Christian

David, it's so great how you keep coming up with things like that.
Thanks!
About time I copied the tape I promised (a year ago?? ) and convert it to a quick time file or mpeg.

Cheers,
Christian
