Icon34 Official UK May 2011 Solo Tour Dates

I know David hasn't posted yet but there were plenty of flyers around the place with the shows on.
I joked with Glenn that i could post them before you David and he said to get the word out

Here you go - all dates in May 2011:

14th - Northampton (Roadmender)
15th - Cambridge (Junction)
17th - Birkenhead (Pacific Road)
18th - Buxton (Opera House)
20th - Edinburgh (Picture House)
21st - Aberdeen (Lemon Tree)
23rd - York (Opera House)
24th - Norwich (Waterfront)
26th - Brighton (Komedia)
27th - Poole (Mr Kyps)
29th - BIRMINGHAM (Town Hall)

Joanne Shaw Taylor is the support for Buxton and York only.
She's touring the UK herself at the same time in May so sadly cant do any others

i forgot to say:

Tickets go on general sale from Friday 7th January 2011.

"Exclusive" pre-sale tickets available from www.ents24.com from 9am Wednesday 5th January 2011.

However, just been on their site and tickets for Cambridge are already available to buy at £20 each!

Having seen GH play both there and Northampton i can recommend those venues. Also seen Blackmore's Night at Buxton and that was a good venue too.

I agree with Wolfy on the chosen venues. I am not a great fan of the O2 Academy venues to be honest even though I promoted a GH gig at one once.

I should have stuck to Pacific Road with the benefit of hindsight. It's right on my doorstep and saw Steve Hackett there recently. (Long story). It's a stander but the parking is excellent and a fine venue which seems to be holding its own despite the cuts. Steve's been back twice now. It will be like my own front room, Grace

Our webmaster, Dave and I got locked in another room at the Roadmender once. It was a real Spinal Tap moment which involved security men with keys and a reverse locking system which certainly confused me. They did let us out for the first number though needless to say

York Opera House looks like a nice weekend too. As wolfy said, Buxton is a nice town and worth combining with some other stuff to do.

Looking forward to this one.

As I set before: GOOD for the UK fans. But the dedicated fans on the CONTINENT want also a proper GH tour (as my fellow fan Patrick already said). Come on let's rock in Europe, please

I hear you guys clamoring for a Euro "proper" tour, but here in the USA we are lucky to get a show or two every couple to three years; and they are usually in LA and/or New York. At some point it would be real nice to not have to fly cross country, rent a car and room for two nights to see Glenn. Then if you want to see multiple shows you end up flying BACK across the country.

I know the logistics and economics of touring America are incredibly complicated, and it probably costs more to do two shows here than a full UK Tour; so I cannot blame G for not touring more extensively. Sure I WANT a US Tour, but to do so would be a bad fit for Glenn with all the difficulties that come with playing here.

I hear what you are saying. Personal opinion is that that's what BCC will eventually do. At least I HOPE they do. My hat goes off to you for taking so much trouble to go and see our man. Fingers crossed for you.

Great to see so many Scottish dates again.

A change in set list would be great as to be honest, apart from Sail Away, the rest sounded simialr (or was it the por sound at the 02 Academy??)

Don't think I will make that one but I know a few people who will most likely be there - don't worry you won't be stood on your own at the gig!

I've only seen Glenn once before, 2 years ago at the Guitarfest at the NIA, where he played a shortened set. I'm going to the birmingham night this tour, but have always wondered, does he, or will he ever play any of songs off the 'Fused' album with Tony Iommi on his solo tours, as that's the album that introduced me to his amazing voice. And while it's not essential he sings any of the songs of it, would complete what I'm damn sure will be an awesome night nonetheless

As Marie says, Joanne Shaw Taylor, will support Glenn for 2 of his shows; May 18th in Buxton and May 23rd in York. As for the others, there will be different support bands for each show.

Coolness, thanks for that. Do you know the answer to my query about whether they occasionally play anything from 'Fused' as well btw? It's more out of intrigue than anything else as i've already got me ticket for the birmingham date

Nope, and it's unlikely; although if a certain person shows up on the night, you never know It's happened before!

Hi, I used to live in York, and went to see something at the Grand Opera House, really lovely venue, and fairly central. It's an easy city to find your way around, would love to go, will have to wait and see...........
