Arrow RE: Madrid show - MESSAGE FROM GLENN

I have been asked by Glenn to pass on a message regarding the show in Madrid.

During the show, Glenn suffered from heat exhaustion caused by a heavy workload and travel fatigue and reluctantly had to close the show earlier than usual.

Glenn had to be taken back to the hotel and checked extensively by paramedics before finally been given a clean bill of health.

This is the first time in his career that he has had to end a show this way but unfortunately, he had no choice.

He would like to let everyone know that he, Chad, JJ and Kjell were having a fantastic time onstage. It was one of the best shows he's played and was also overwhelmed by the response from the Madrid audience.

He would like to thank you for all the get well messages and support and wants to tell his fans in Spain that he loves them all as they hold a special place in his heart.

The shows in Palma and Barcelona will go ahead and he is looking forward to seeing all of you there!

Thanks for letting us know Rob & Ainhoa. He came close once before in Dudley a couple of years ago, but it's a little hotter in Spain, so that would do it!

Do pass along all our good wishes and look forward to your gig reports when you can

Hi,
didn't Glenn have some problem also in Glasgow show during Deep Purple's final tour in the UK? So 2 times during his career is not too bad...I'm not counting Sabbath shows...

Glenn - all the best

People in Spain - enjoy your shows, I wish I could be there...instead I'm enjoying autumn flu in rainy Espoo...

Songs List

Hi,

The songs list that they were going to play is this:

SOUL MOVER
ORION
LAND OF THE LIVING
MISTRITEATED
CAN'T STOP THE FLOOR
SEAFUL
SAIL AWAY (that Glenn said it was the first time he play this song)
DON'T LET ME BLEED
GETTIN TIGHIER
WHITER SHADE OF.... (PALE)
YOU FOOL NO ONE
________________
HIGHER GROUND
BURN

But ther had to stop after DON'T LET ME BLEED. Then JJ and Chad played some little parts of songs like:

SOUL MOVER
SUCK MY KISS (RED HOT)
ROCK AND ROLL (LED ZEPPELIN)
And I think there were two more but I coudn't know it.

It was a pity, because I love this song WHITER SHADE OF PALE but I couldn'd hear it.

Best Wishes for a full and speedy recovery Glenn

I was at the show David was referring to in Dudley on the SITKOR show.
Glenn really did give it everything that night for his "home" crowd.
Even the papers reported he collapsed from exhaustion back stage after the show.
i think i posted the article on here somewhere.

Unlike some major bands who give the impression of just playing yet another show in yet another town, Glenn puts his heart and soul into every show because he loves playing live. This is why we all love him.

Just the fact that Glenn wasn't feeling well,
and STILL managed to do a 75 minute concert for the Madrid fans,
AND THEN made sure that this "apology message" got through,
shows you what the man is made of.........

Take good care of yourself, Glenn.

Hello fellow GHCP's

Have just got back to UK from Madrid and I can only echo the comments made. Glenn had put on an incredible, emotional and inspired show up until the point were he had to leave the stage. What I can confirm is the fantastic 'connection' he had made with the Spanish crowd and I don't think I've ever heard such an amazing response from a Glenn Hughes audience with repeated chants of 'Glenn, Glenn, Glenn' in between songs, actually causing a delay to the next song starting!!!

When talking to many of the Spanish fans after the show they were all very concerned about Glenn but were all of the opinion that the 'vocal solo' during Mistreated had been worth the entrance money alone.

Too bad about what happened. I'm delighted to know Glenn is feeling better.

It's too bad the show got cut off, but 75 minutes is still a good length. I've never seen Glenn live and I'd do anything to see 75 minutes of him, JJ and Chad!

Hi To Everyone

I just join to this site to know how is Glenn know. I'm very happy I hope drive over 700 Km to go to Oporto from Madrid To see again Glenn. I have friends in Galicia ( La Guardia ) next to oporto and all will go together to see glenn again.

I was in the performance in Madrid. Was incredible till Glenn go out to take a rest a didn't come to the stage. JJ and Chad did a perfect work to win some time but was imposible to start again with the show.

The Show was even better than the last and first time I could see Glenn with Joe Lynn Turner two years ago.

I Hope all goes well

There are people that must to live forever and Glenn is one of them

Hey there everyone!

I'm new to this forum, and I'll be in Hard Club, in Porto, on thursday, to watch one of the guys that made start singing... well, to be honest, he almost made me give up

He's just out of this world!

Who will be here in Portugal?

Bye for now
