Classic Rock September Edition

Hi Grace,

Your special media reporter is checking in with the news on the latest edition of Classic Rock magazine. They had this to say about JLT’s new release:

Last year JLT worked on an album and world tour with fellow former DP member GH, and the experience benefited both parties. Soon to release a second collaborative record, HTP invigorated Glenn enough to turn in his best album in years in SIKTOR. And blow me down if Joe hasn’t gone and done the same, reviving a solo career that for the past few years has been swimming in circles.
“JLT wins through the time-honoured combination of good songs, great playing and a whole lot of attitude. Cloaked in delicious Hammond organ and strutting the ring like Muhammad Ali in his prime, “In Cold Blood employs a vague “Spotlight Kid style shuffle, the HTP hangover continuing with the punchy, beefy “Jump Start. Funkier but with a solid rock backbone, “Dirty Deal prefaces the smouldering ballad “Love Don’t Live Here. Turner rarely puts a foot wrong from there onwards, with the gnarly “Blood Fire coming on like Bad Company, and “Driving With My Eyes Closed echoing his brief Purple tenure. Very cool.

**** out of five

What a shame Dave Ling who did this review wasn’t the person who did SIKTOR.

There is also a review of DP & LS at Wembley Arena which i will post later.

You've beat me to it again, Wolfysmith. I think you can be the official watcher now!

Whaddya say, Grace?

There is a mention that new label T2 Media are releasing several classic Deep Purple concerts on DVD, beginning with Denmark 1972 and California Jam '74. 'Live At The Basement 2003' from Jon Lord and The Hoochie Coochie Men, is also being released early September.

Over to you Wolfysmith ...

Classic rock with a positive review ???

For those who believe, no explanation is necessary.
For those who do not,
none will suffice.

Yes, Steve - a positive response indeed.

Any of you Brits heard of 'Fireworks' magazine, which a friend writes for? Well interviewed, well put together and very much in the AOR mould. If any of you want me to get a copy and send it on, you know where I am!

Yes, thank you to all British "Classic Rock" spies for the report.....

(Hey, did I read that review wrong???
It was COMPLIMENTARY to the new album???
NO INSULTS TO GH OR JLT???)

OK....which one of you GHCP's threatened this guy, so the review was written the way it was???

I reckon Dave Ling has probably handed in his notice so he decided before he left he'd write something completely outrageous. Like something good about JLT.
