Icon33 New band - Jeff Kollman news...

Lots of news from Jeff Kollman just in...

He's now a member of a band soon to have there debut - the lineup is Chad Smith, Jeff Kollman, Kevin Chown and Ed Roth. The record is done! No band name or title as of yet.

Kollman states, "It's really a great chemistry. Everyone comes from a bit of a different place musically. It's really geling together as a cool sound. Ed's got the funk and R&B 70's thing going on. Chown is Detroit rock and Motown mix. Chad brings that sick rock funk groove that help sustain the Chili Peppers for all these years. I protect and defend the rock guitar."

The record will be available early in '08.

Of course, all members have the GLENN connection

More tour news and Cosmosquad updates are now available over at www.jeffkollman.com

Hi Wolfy

The sentence before David's quote from Jeff's site says :

Quote:
There's a new group on the instrumental block.

So,yep,probably !!

& is this right ? :

Quote:
Chad brings that sick rock funk groove

or should that read 'slick'?

All in all, can't wait to pick this up in 2008 !

Ben's Sig:

Cheers,
Ben !!

No charge for Glenn's friends ~

I'm sure that this line-up of talented musicians would appreciate it,
if the combined brilliance of the Glenn Hughes Crazy People
were to suggest a really snappy name for this band. For free.
(Another GHPG.net contest?)

"Geographic Chemistry" sounds a little too blah..........
(I'll start workin' on it.)

2008 is already looking to be a good year.

With Glenn's new release in the works and a new band full of his sidekicks already in the fold, there will be some interesting sounds coming our way, and hopefully some awesome shows to attend in the not to distant future.

The still un-named "new" band featuring Chad Smith (drums), Jeff Kollman (guitars), Ed Roth (keys) and Kevin Chown (bass) will be making their debut live performance next week at the NAMM convention in Anaheim, California.

It kicks off at 5:30PM on Friday, January, 18th at the Fender Frontline stage at the convention center.

You can also catch Jeff with Cosmosquad during NAMM - again on the 18th at 5:00PM and the day before, the 17th at 2:00PM, also at the Fender Frontline stage inside the convention center. Guest drummer, Glen Sobel, will be joining the band just for these two events.

Sorry It's late and I need to go to bed, just being silly. If I was Laurent Id change the drummer too but I do love Chad.

Thanks for that David, great timing.

I recently got Jeff's latest live effort for Christmas, so it's good to see the man in action so soon afterwards

Yeah!, that's what I'm talkin bout.
David, thanks a whole bunch for posting these gems!
The second clip from the top, which looked like the last song, sounded right out of Cobham's Spectrum session.
The last clip was simply Killer.
I can't wait to see these guys live

Acclaimed Southern California heavy fusioneers COSMOSQUAD, featuring guitarist Jeff Kollman (GLENN HUGHES, MOGG/WAY), bassist Christopher Maloney (DWEEZIL ZAPPA, HARDLINE), and drummer Shane Gaalaas (B'Z, DIESEL MACHINE), have announced their first ever Japanese shows. The band will be playing a pair of double headers (showtime: 7pm and 9pm) in Osaka and Tokyo and also appear at the Musician's Institute in Tokyo (open to students only). A Los Angeles area show has been booked for April 4 at the Baked Potato in North Hollywood.

Exact dates and venues are as follows:

March 12 - Live Square 2nd Line, Osaka, Japan
March 14 - Shibuya Duo Music Exchange, Tokyo, Japan
March 15 - Musician's Institute, Tokyo, Japan
April 4 - Baked Potato, North Hollywood, CA

In other news, Kollman will be officially unveiling his new instrumental venture, THE BOMBASTIC MEATBATS, also featuring fellow Glenn Hughes alumni Chad Smith (RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS) on drums and Ed Roth on keyboards, along with bassist, Kevin Chown, with two sets at Baked Potato on Saturday, March 1 (showtime: 9pm and 11pm). In addition, the MEATBATS will be heading to Japan for a club tour in late April; dates listed below. The group's upcoming 11-song debut CD is finished and mastered. Recorded analog and live in the studio, the disc was co-produced by Jono Brown - songs include 'Need Strange', 'Battle For Ventura Blvd', 'Night Sweats', 'Big Feet', 'Lola', and 'Roller Girl'.
