Arrow Trapeze dates

Wanted: Historian who checks out this archival material stored here:

http://www.lib.utexas.edu/taro/utcah/00031/cah-00031.html#a0

this is archival material of the legendary 'Armadillo World Headquarters nightclub in Austin' (1970-1980) stored at the 'University of Texas at Austin'

http://www.awhq.com

According to the archival material Trapeze seemed to have played in the ARMADILLO WORLD HEADQUEARTERS NIGHTCLUB IN AUSTIN on august 21 and 22nd 1976, with Glenn I presume...

They also played the place on December 4th 1974 (without Glenn).

Icon33 Appreciation Tour

There are of course these pix - from a gig that took place in Beaumont, Texas during that short tour. It sounds like they made 2 trips, one in August and one December? As from what I can gather, the shows were all in Texas and not part of a larger nationwide tour.

I would disagree that the 1976 Trapeze tour was limited to only shows in Texas. In the video of Trapeze from St. Louis in 1994, Glenn clearly says that the last time they played St. Louis was 18 years earlier as part of the 1976 reunion tour. He seems pretty clear about that. I would imagine that in 76 they played the markets that were strong for them, which would be a great deal of Texas, but not entirely limited to that state alone. I wish there was more documentation of the tour dates from them. I am curious to know just how many shows Glenn did that year with Trapeze.

Icon34 Trapeze in 1981

I had always assumed that Trapeze recorded their 1981 Texas shows at the Armadillo World headquarters but a quick re-read of the liner notes from the late 90's Puprle Pyramid release tell me that the band played at the Opry House instead. I had also thought that the title was a reference to the late, great venue.

Trapeze always got a LOT of airplay on rock radio in San Antonio when I lived there in the 80's and were I to go there now, and dial in whatever station Tom "T-Bone" Sheppke was DJ'ing on these days, I would be certain to hear them!

Although I left Texas in 1982 I would dare say that Trapeze got more airplay in the 70's on the original KISS radio station. Being new here I haven't seen their names mentioned yet but Lou Ronney and Joe Anthony are quite famous for introducing many. many acts to the San Antonio market during that time. It was considered a test bed market due to the diverse population of military, Hispanic and others.

Trapeze's manager Tony Perry has, I believe, a concise diary of ALL dates the band played. I'll call him over the next week and see if I can clear up some of the issues raised.
