Joe Bonamassa's Driving Towards the Daylight CD

I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but I noticed that PAT THRALL appears on one song on Joe's new CD, Driving Towards the Daylight.

Another great album by Joe, if you haven't gotten it yet. The guy is consistent!

Not really my cup of tea this release ~ but Pat is so distinctive, had to pick it up for that one track... Lonely Town Lonely Street Think Zoe got more kudos than he though

Incidentally, Joe has recorded Purple's Lazy for a Machine Head tribute album thing.

I'm not a big fan of Barnes.
Know some of his songs of Cold Chisel and his solo output.
And of course Living Loud. with Steve Morse, Don Airey, Bob Daisley and Lee Kerslake.
That was also a mixed bag.
Two great (own) songs In The Name Of God and Every Moment A Lifetime.
The Ozzy covers didn't do me much.
But everyone has a different taste.

But quick back to topic

Joe's new album doesn't do me much, like most of his albums.
I think he releases too many albums in a short time.
For me he should slow down and pick the best from 2 releases and join them one 1 cd.
As a performer I think his guitarchanging (live) is a bit foolish.
Why does he need for (almost) every song a different guitar?

I enjoy this album quite a lot. When you need something a bit less intense,a bit less in your face, i like to give Joe albums a listen.

I saw Joe live the year before last, and i commented at the time about the frequent guitar change. Initially it made me laugh, then it carried on happening and i thought it was absurd. I think its totally unnecessary, i think i'd be embarrassed doing that. I'm not a guitar player, but is the tone/sound really that different that a different guitar is required for almost every song played live? It just breaks up the flow of a gig.

For all that though i thought it was a pretty good gig

Joe posted a pic of some guitars used @ BCC sessions. The Fenders should provide a different flavor

In this conversation, the "squire of blues" talks again about his collection and why he likes changing his "girls" during a show. Joe also speaks about his upcoming acoustic tour.

Whatever Joe does, I just hope he leaves enough space for the next BCC tour!

As Joe's solo career is getting bigger and bigger, I hope he will also continue with BCC. Joe as a solo artist is very good, he is a superb blues rock player, but sometimes I miss the power and variety in his solo songs. I like him more as the guitarist and co-songwriter in BCC.
Black Country Communion is the combination of four extremely talented musicians, and they got lots of power.
I think 3 is a perfect title

Ad made a referance to Joe Bonamassa's new release "Driving into the Daylight" earlier on- Now that it has been out for a while, I was wondering what all of us BCC fans thought of it. I think the song selection was very interesting, and the 4 Bonamassa tracks are ok, my favorite being "Dislocated Boy"- nice groove, killer soloing. His songwriting is ok- but almost all the solo"s are exceptional through out. Gotta mention the teamwork with Kevin Shirly once again- fantastic. I guess I can't blame him for trying to maintain the focus on his solo career- and I'm grateful that he can keep the pace that he does, one of the hardest working guitarists out there (probably THE hardest). I think the only thing that could satisfy us BCC fans is if the third Release takes the band to the next level in sales and popularity such that Joe just can't deny the fans a full blown tour. Anything short of that, Joe can't afford not to keep his solo career a priority. He is getting more popular all over the world as time goes on. I fear that some day, even less time is dedicated to the BCC project. Let's just hope for some outstanding sales this time around- and maybe an invite on a large tour that they just can not refuse..
