Top Picks 2002

** Non Glenn related releases only **

Well, I didn't think this year had much to offer from other artists and I can only come up with a handful of worthy albums that deserve any honorable mentions!

Richie Kotzen - Slow
Humanimal - Humanimal
Dave Meniketti - Meniketti
Westworld - Cyberdreams
Audioslave - Audioslave (Boot demos were better )
Harem Scarem - Weight Of The World

Agree - disagree? What does your list look like?

From what I can see, it looks like 2003 will be a better year

2002 Favorites

Here are some of my favorite releases of the year. I too found this to be a dissappointing year as many of my favorite artists released subpar records(Tea Party, Del Amitri)so I had to look outside the box:

Bleu - Redhead (Aware Records)
Beck - Sea Change
Dishwalla - Opaline
QOTSA - Songs for the Deaf
Rhett Miller - Instigator
Silverchair - Diorama
Audioslave(Yes, the boot demos are better!!)
Our Lady Peace -Gravity

some bands I found out about but did not release cds this year:

Earth to Andy - Chronicle Kings
David Usher - Morning Orbit

Hope next year will be better.....can it be worse?

Please don't say yes!!!

Hi!

Nice lists. I'll try to come up with something as well. By the way:

Richie Kotzen - Slow
Humanimal - Humanimal

Those *are* Glenn Hughes related artists
aren't they? ;-)

cheers,

- Fedor

No Glenn!

Guess I should have been clearer

In otherwords, albums not featuring an appearance by Glenn!

The list would of been quite extensive if that was the case

My picks....

A fairly quiet year, no doubt. However, there were still some gems in the form of:

Bowes / Morley - Moving Swiftly Along (most of you non-UK guys will be totally ignorant of these two)
Paul Gilbert - Burning Organ
Eric Martin - I'm Goin' Sane (here's one album that did anything but disappoint)

That said, I got stacks of great albums this year, but they dated from all over the place. It wasn't until I actually looked what brand new stuff I bought I realised how little new stuff without Glenn I'd purchased!

Bowes/Morley

Hey James,

Been a Thunder fan for a while(not many of us in the USA) and bought that cd. I liked it but thought that Morley's solo cd last year was better. Looking forward to hearing new Thunder material though!!!

Hey Maz!

Maz,

I'm blown away that somebody in the States has Bowes/Morley! It's all I can do to find somebody in the UK who has it! I didn't buy Luke's solo album because I think his voice is that of a backing singer....I'm not impressed with his lead work. Excellent songwriter however.
I thought Thunder were great though....I got to meet them when they played at my home town, got loads of stuff signed and saw them twice more after that. Rumour has it the new album will be a balls to the wall rocker...here's hoping!

My list for 2002

Morjens,
all of these are not new (year 2002)albums, but albums I bought this year, not in any particular order:
Peter Gabriel: UP
David Sylvian/Robert Fripp:The First Day
King Crimson:Heavy ConstruKction
Marillion:Anorak in the UK
Mr Big:Japandemonium Raw Like Sushi III (all 3 are great)
Tomahawk:Tomahawk
Audioslave: got demos today, so I can't say anything about them...
Blue Murder:Screaming Blue Murder live

i had kinda weird year - first half I collected Mr Big/Blue Murder kinda stuff and now I'm (almost) totally into progressive rock...

nice weekendto everyone,

T

Hi Chris,

I've heard about this album by Sarah Jane Morris
& Marc Ribot. So it is good... Thanks for
reminding me of the title/artist, I had forgotten about it!

cheers,

- Fedor

Re: Sarah Jane Morris

Hi Fedor,
some more appetizers for her new Album: Ribot is on Acoustic Guitar mostly, Phil Coulter (Morris' husband) occasionally helps out on world instruments & Keyboards. There are quite some covers, tastefully arranged and sung fabulously (as we can expect this from Glenn, we can from Sarah Jane...)
Need the tracklisting?
Talk to you soon, Chris
