the video of the encore of Cocaine is now playing on the page.

Watch Mel signal with hands and verbally to the band what he's gonna do in the song!

All four songs changed. Selection includes a demo from the 80s. some of you may have it as a boot!

Also a new blog will appear and of course live shows now listed for March 2008.

Also created a new photo album called Meet n Greet that features new photos including a few GHPG members. If anyone has any pics let me know and i will get them loaded up.

I totally second that. Although you won't get the promised Derby Blues track (an early version of Cowboy Song, Live in 1975) on the Audio-CD.

Patience my boy..patience!!

Can't wait to check it out...is it My Space or the fact that I am using the computers at work the reason why his site won't load up? I know My Space gets stupid busy and bogs down now and then....I am not gong anywhere!

And Chip has contributed a few images of his own from his Trapezium collection and posted them on the Trapeze site...check it out now!

I was digging around on the Internet and found an obituary for Joe Anthony the self proclaimed "Godfather Of Rock And Roll"; he had a killer show on Saturday nights on 99.5 KISS. Joe passed away in 1992; his show has left a lot of great memories!

Note, the drummer loses one of his drum sticks and carries on regardless as if he'd still have two! That's very funny.
Great video, even for a mimed performance, although John Wetton's certainly (and generally by the way) not very good at miming!
Which TV show is that from?
Thanks, Paul!

Christian

Last night i added 20 new pics to a new photo album on the page for MGM.

These were found recently by Mel and never seen before that he can recall.

I also changed his songs about 10 minutes ago!

Hey Paul,

I checked those pictures out last night....what a find they are!It is cool to see the MGM era documented this way. Who knows what other treasures Mel might have hiding in the attic somewhere. Thank you so much for all your work in bringing all these nuggets to light!

another bunch of unseen pics now loaded up on Mel's and the Trapeze page.

These are from the 1994 show at The Robin and were taken by Mark Galley.

If you are wondering about the pair of knickers on the mic stand - they (and several other pairs) were thrown at the band and Mel used them to wipe away the sweat!

Lord help Glenn if I threw my knickers on to the stage - the band could pack up all their gear in them!!!!!

That is a good new picture, Wolfy! Songs sound awesome of course.

I spent a lot of time on there this morning looking through the pictures....really nice. I love those pictures of Mel and his Otterhound. Of course, being a guitar and dog kind of guy, I would. And the pictures of him with his SG. That's what he played when I saw him, and on the early stuff....and of course why my first guitar was an SG.

You gotta love it!!

I saw the new pic several nights ago....a classic Carl Dunn shot! I can't listen to the songs at work but that will change soon..

And that SG...a classic sound...Pete Townshend started using them in 1968 because he wanted something with more crunch and thickness than a Fender. They gave him what he wanted and he used (and smashed!) dozens of SG Specials until the supply dried up around 1971 and he switched to Les Pauls. John Entwistle always felt that Pete got his best onstage tone with the SG.

And let's not forget Eric Clapton and the custom painted SG he used in Cream.sonic nirvana!!

Hey Bill, that's true, SGs are highly underated guitars. A few others that used them in the day were Frank Marino, Terry Kath..and I guess Iommi still does. I have seen pics of Jimi playing one.
I'm going to get another one some day if I win the lottery. Gibsons are way overpriced these days, although a 335 is one of my favorite guitars in the world. I have recently fallen in love with Telecasters of all things, and that from a die hard Stratocaster man. Teles are so emotive. I saw Glenn mention that he got a Tele when he saw Mel playing one as a youngster. I wonder if he still has it?

He may do Roger, Glenn has a large amount of guitars in his collection.

Mel did a straight swap from his SG to the black LP. I know he wishes he had kept it - but you dont think like that at the time i guess.

Incidentally, there are some more fantastic Carl Dunn classic shots to come. I just dont want to spoil you all at once.

Also some pics from 1977 of Trapeze live in the Lafayette have just been sent to me. Will appear soon once brushed up a bit.

So many guitars..so little time!

Hey Roger,

There was a picture here on the site that showed Glenn's current crop of guitars....among them was a Tele copy...I have to dig for the picture....it is a newer model.

A lot of people seem to think that Leo Fender got it right the first time with the Telecaster....and to think that it was ridiculed when first introduced...."canoe paddle" was one of the kinder remarks. At a trade show, another sales rep offered to trade his son's Lionel train set for the new Fender...if he only knew!!

Icon34 Mel's long lost lady

The pictures of Mel's Les Paul Custom are just lovely...as I commented on the picture, "If this guitar could talk...."

That brings me to my Les Paul story.....

Back in 1977, I took guitar lessons from my friend's guitar teacher. Joe Agoglia has since gone on to a career as a sideman and session player but back then, he was out of college and teaching guitar to make some cash.

Joe gave his lessons on the enclosed back porch of his parent's house and I will never forget the afternoon that I met the Les Paul. He was telling me about the new guitar he had just bought; his main axe was a Guild Lenny Frank hollowbody electric. He opened the case and I will never forget the sight..maybe it was the sun shining through the curtains....but the guitar almost glowed...that ablaone inlays on the neck and the gold pickups were mesmerizing. The deep black finish..you almost had to put on a tuxedo just to touch the guitar. I can see it now as if it were yesterday.....

Someday I am going to buy one...just to fulfill that wish!!

Just added the video of Whitesnake performing Give Me More Time on Top of The Pops in 1984 to Mel's page. Its poor quality but you can see Mel on his Les Paul with John Sykes on his. Sykes is still playing the same guitar even now in Lizzy.

Neil Murray himself loaded it up on to Youtube!
