New sub-menues of home page

hey david, as a matter of feedback, i like the new sub-menues that drop down on the homepage. now it's one short step less in the process of getting on here and giving the opinons, scoops, and feedback that we love to get on here and post or read. thanks again and always for the work that you do to keep us up and running.

and now for another quick point of feedback. it would be nice for dumbasses like me, to allow the edit button on our post to include any mistakes that we made in the "title" section of a new thread. that way, if we write the word "of" instead of "on" we can fix it instead of having potentially hundreds of people think what i just acknowledged; that i misspelled a word in the title of this thread

Thanks for the feedback, pleased you find it useful. The sub-menu's would be here in the Fan Forum too, but the code clashed with some other things that are running, which are more important, so they're everywhere but here!

As for editing your thread titles - you are able to do it, but you only have 1 day (24 hours) to do so, from the time you create your initial post, after that, only an Admin like myself can change it for you! See the screenshots below to see how to do it! We're going to change "reunite" to "reunited"...in this example.

Find your post in the forum display and then double-click on the cell it resides in...


Now you will see that you can edit the title...


Type the changes you want to make and click anywhere else for them to take effect...


Now you can see your edit has been saved and the post title is changed in the forum display...

It wasn't the "of" that I noticed. "Of" actually works okay in the context. It was the other mistake I noticed

That's 'cuz it's past the 24 hour alloted editing time. If you create a new post and mess up the title, you'll have up to
24 hours to fix it

I am just glad that you can edit your posts for some time after they are put up. I get mental about misspellings and typos..especially when they are my own. If I write a long post as I have been known to do, it drives me crazy how many typos I don't catch on first posting....so I stamp them out as quickly as possible!

Really like the new setup David. It adds some panache.

As for typos, misspells, etc., I just think if the content is good we can get through the awful spelling. BTW Bill, I count zero typos in your average post, so either you edit often or are a human spell-check

hi david. i like the new sub menus but every time i try to go to the fan forum i have to be very precise with the mouse or it goes to another catagory. now if the sub menus came straight down that would help. dont know if you can do that or maybe bring the fan forum catagory right under the main fans menu. i know picky picky

Yeah, I know it can be a little finicky! But in order to support as many web browsers as possible, it has to be the way it is I'm afraid! As long as you know to be gentle with it, it works well

unlike Bill, the human dictionary, i'm always going back and editing my post. it's not just my spelling too. sometimes i go back and read my post and say "did i really say that? " boy, one too many drinks sometimes and who knows what you/i might say. so "editting ben bery bery good to me "

Oh....., I hear you. I do that too! Only recently I was using the Search facility to look up an old posting and found that my English was pretty poor. So I actually edited the whole thing!
How neurotical is that!?

Chris your English is better than most people who speak it as a first language. This country is especially poor at learning others because everywhere you go in the world they speak English as a second language so no need.

my Spanish consists of ordering food and beer and then paying the bill! San Miguel please

My expectations against myself are generally on a pretty high level.
At work people call me grammar police, and call me in to check mails and messages for spelling mistakes and better expression.
I have learned a couple of languages, namely English, French, Russian, Latin and Japanese (I can order food and drinks in many more though ), and it bothers me almost every day that I don't have enough time to study them properly in order to maintain a certain level.
But with lots of personal interests and a daily 10 hour working schedule this is almost impossible...

I must correct your English here Chris. "A couple" usually means "two" and you then go on to mention five. To this we can presumably add German so that makes six languages in all. Please be a little more careful

and handwriting. (Girls.....you must improve your vocabulary.)

So folks, don't sweat the small stuff.
Especially those GHCPs who feel that they have to apologize
for their English. How many of us "English as a first language"
people post anything on foreign web sites? Not me.....I'm lucky
that I was able to graduate from high school with the grades
that I got for French. (Pardonnez-moi, Nathalie.)
