Arrow Ligertwood in new 'Supergroup'

In an usual pairing, ex-Santana vocalist, Alex Ligertwood is joining forces with former Stone Temple Pilots members Dean (guitar) and Robert DeLeo (bass) - they have confirmed a January 14th show with a new band at B.B. King's nightclub in Los Angeles, according to Launch Radio Networks.

Ligertwood and the DeLeo brothers are part of the new band known as Farm Fur, which is rounded out by Steve Ferrone, who drums with Tom Petty. This newly minted supergroup will perform versions of Stone Temple Pilots songs, as well as new original tunes.

Sounds interesting and of course, there's another Glenn connection, as you know Alex was part of the Soulfully Live...live performance, as well as made an appearance on Songs In The Key Of Rock and many VCR live shows with Glenn.

Yeah, Alex is really an amazing vocalist! Chip played me a song by Alex back in his Brian Auger days that he could just about have passed off as a track left off Play Me Out. Great stuff. The album title escapes me now, but I'm sure Chip can crane his neck and squint his eyes to read the spine of the CD - his archive is only ten feet to his right (if he's reading this).

Cheers...Todd

Yeah, Todd's correct. I sent him that recording asking if he could guess who it was. Alex sounds a little like Glenn in his "PMO" days. Very funky.

The song is 'Plum', off of Brian Auger's Oblivion Express album 'Reinforcements'. I think it was released in 1975.

A little? Methinks that's an understatement.

Reinforcements CD Info and more

Funny, that album's mentioned - I listened to it a month ago. Dave Dowle plays the drums btw.
A nice CD reissue is available from the disconforme label, cat.no. DISC1017CD
Their home on the web can be found at
http://www.disconforme.ad
(.ad stands for Andorra in case you're wondering)
Alex also joined Brian Auger for the "Second Wind" Album.
Excellent stuff.
I go to see Brian play every year at his regular gig here in Vienna.
Cheers,
Christian

Former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Bassist Says FARM FUR Project Is Not Long-Term Band

Former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS bassist Robert DeLeo has posted the following message on the group's official web site:

"I can confirm that Dean DeLeo [former STP guitarist] and I will be playing with FARM FUR, but for only three shows. Our friend Steve Ferrone asked us to sit in, and we were honored to be asked to play with such great musicians. It's a lot of fun. It's a 10 to 12 piece band, a bit different from what Dean and I have ever done. The songs being performed are musical contributions from each artist or band the artist is from. The set will include songs by THE AVERAGE WHITE BAND, SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE, RUFUS, Steve's solo stuff, as well as a couple STP songs. The STP material isn't intended to be played like STP. It's a one-time chance for Dean and I to take a couple of our songs and perform them with some of the best musicians on this planet. Would you pass that up? FARM FUR is certainly not a long-term band. It's a chance to have a hell of a lot of fun, and be musically challenged by some pretty intimidating players.

"Now let me fill you in on what FARM FUR means: Dean keeps his horses at a ranch that has a lot of unique animals. One day a zebra jumped the fence and made it with a donkey. (No ****) The result was a donkey-like animal with a black and white mane, and black and white legs only but the rest donkey. We took a picture of this animal, which we affectionately refer to as a Dizonkey, to rehearsal one day and everyone cracked up. Dean actually came up with the name FARM FUR. We put the two together, and thought it was funny as hell.

"We're playing the 14th at BB King's, the 15th at the Malibu inn, and the 21st at the NAMM show. (I repeat, this is not intended to be a serious long-term band.)

"Also, Dean and I have something coming up that you will all be thoroughly excited about. More of that to come."
