Chickenfoot sounded decent on Conan. Satch was wailing and then gave Conan his guitar at the end. I will check them out at the Cleveland show in July.

Chickenfoot with Chad Smith

Bill, I see they're 'promoting' it heavily on television.....I've seen an advert for it several times now!

I picked up the album at Best Buy yesterday, and I've given it a couple spins so far. Great stuff. I'm not much of a Sammy Hagar fan, but it's quite enjoyable regardless. It seems like everyone gets a chance to shine on the album. Big from me!

I should also add that I think the new Prince album would appeal to a lot of people in this forum. The first disc, 'LotusFlow3r', is very soulful, atmospheric, funky and much to my pleasant surprise it's very guitar intensive. At times it sounds like a hot band simply jamming on a groove. This is as close as it gets to the guitar album I've been waiting for Prince to record. Right on! The second disc is classic Prince. So overall, it's a nice combination of sounds at a great price.

Cheers..Todd

Chickenfoot entered the Billboard charts at #6, having sold nearly 50000 copies.

More than I expected. Good for them.

Cool Digging the "Foot!!

I haven't got all the tracks straight in my head yet....but I really enjoy it! It would be easy to call this another wanna be supergroup....but what seperates the champs from the chumps is a simple concept known as ...CHEMISTRY!!

Sammy and Mike have that vocal chemistry together from their years in Van Halen....Joe Satriani puts melody and groove ahead of his considerable technique and Chad drives everything along with locomotive intensity.

It ain't Led Zeppelin....but this bird is a monster...turn it up!!

Chickenfoot's only Austrian date so far is at a festival about 90 minutes from Vienna. This usually sells out, so it should be a VERY big crowd.
Generally I don't like festivals very much - plus we have a big work party on that Saturday night...
So here's hoping for another CF gig anywhere near here soon!

Cheers,
Christian

Icon35 Chickenfoot Aussie release

Was passing my fave record store (Utopia Records, Sydney) the other day and Chickenfoot was front and centre in a new promo rack just inside the door. Grabbed a copy of the Oz version and bunged it in the CD player in the car. Strong record with two stand out tracks for me on first listen - Sexy Little Thing and Get it Up. Will listen to the rest a bit more and write up a longer review later.

As a funny little aside, the guy at the counter was also selling the US release. He tried to get me to part wth the extra six bucks for that version. Curious, I asked him why I would do that as the track listing is the same. Turns out the US version has a heat senstive cover which he claims he discovered by accident. If you apply heat to the cover, a band photo is revealed. He rubbed it vigorously (pardon me, vicar!) and parts of the photo showed up. It is the same photo of the band that is inside the cover of the Oz version so I kept the six bucks. Astute shopper, me.

cheers

Chad had another good night last night in London with Chickenfoot @ the Shepherd's Bush Empire, but his drum kit didn't fare as well

Saw Chickenfoot yesterday in The Netherlands. Great show! Chad had the same funny smile as when he played with Glenn. Appearently just playing drums isn't enough for him to get rid off his energy; he needs to dance with it as well. It was great to see Hagar and Anthony on a stage together again, doing Van Halen-esque choirs. And Joe's Marshall amps had a nice old fashioned rock sound. Great band! Go see them.

cheers
Fedor

Thanks for posting the clips David. The sound quality was lacking a bit , but it was fun to see them tear up Highway Star like that. I've heard that song somewhere B4, I just can't place who originally did it

Yeah, I did notice that (@ about 7:30 into it is the actual moment of the assault ). They did seem too have a pretty good laugh about it in the end. A Spinal Tap moment indeed.

Chickenfoot - Chad's Arm

There's some bad news here:

"We are sorry to inform our Spanish fans that Chickenfoot cannot perform tomorrow night in Madrid due to a serious injury to drummer Chad Smith. Chad was performing on stage last night in Paris & during the show he hurt his right arm badly. He has torn his small bicep and cannot play the show Weds July 1st. The band is very sorry they cannot play for their Spanish fans this week and plan to return as soon as possible."

www.chickenfoot.us

They where having such a ball together... hope you get well soon Chad!!

I've got my tickets to go see Chad's Chickenfoot at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach SC. 2 weeks from today on Aug. 29th. I have really been enjoying that CD and have not been able to get it out of the player in my car. I'm really looking forward to it. I think I'm going to bring my daughter and turn her onto some more good music. I took her there last year (or 2) to see Sammy and Michael Anthony when they did their little "Other 1/2" tour. I'm also thinking how nice it would be if the "Soul Mover" would read this and leave me a couple of passes at the ticket office so that we could come back and say hello. If you do read this Chad, it really would be cool if that did happen, but be assured that we will be enjoying the show greatly either way. I also noticed that as I was logged on writting this that the "Big Daddy " himself is also logged on. Glenn, you can certainly feel free to pass my request on to Chad if you talk to him Is this a great family to be a part of, or what?
peace and love to you all,

On my way to Myrtle Beach later today to see Chickenfoot @ the House of Blues. I'm looking forward to the show, but not looking forward to looking through everyone's heads just to try to see the band. Hopefully we will be able to find a place to stand where we can see. I guess my request () for backstage passes didn't come through Oh well, I guess Glenn nor Chad read my last post and/or it was too much of a hassle to try to hook me up. ( I think that I'll check at the "will call" window just in case. You never know until you try.) Oh well, such is the life of a common man.
peace,

Finally got the album a couple of days ago and am enjoying it. Wish the drums were turned up a bit more in the mix. It's not an instant love affair this album but I do look forward to playing it over and over again.

Here's Chickenfoot the other night in Las Vegas, with special guest drummer, Jason Bonham, playing the Led Zep song, "Rock And Roll". Not often you'll see Chad on guitar but not too worry, him and Jason go at it on the drums, near the end
