Icon33 Rock'n'Roll Fantasy Camp Review & Clips, New York

Came across a couple of brief clips from the sessions at the Rock'n'Roll Fantasy Camp that is happening this weekend, culminating in a show on Monday night at BB King's.

GLENN is featured on bass, and vocals on SOTW

Cool SOTW ending

Check out the ending of SOTW in the second clip. Totally intuitive. So cool. Shows that all the guys have been making music for a long time and obviously still enjoy playing SOTW!

Looking forward to seeing clips of the actual performance!

Cheers,
Christian

Icon33 GH @ Rock 'N Roll Fantasy Camp!

Just got in (6:30am!) from the RNR Fantasy Camp gig at BB King's... I'm exhausted and about to hit the sack, but wanted to file a quick report, as promised (full review and pix to follow):

GH was one of many camp counselors. His band performed an original song (each band wrote one during the week) - YKOM (Glenn shared lead vox with a female camper) - and "Detroit Rock City" (with Paul Stanley). The really cool thing was Glenn played electric guitar during his set - he even took a few solos! Sweet!!! And he blew his amp out (again!). Quite a few technical issues during the show, but to be expected with so many people on and off the stage.

GH was back out at the end of the night for the counselor jam session - they ran through a bunch of tunes related to the musicians on stage - a few I remember are "Superstition," "Our Lips Are Sealed," "We Will Rock You," and SOTW... He played bass throughout and took the lead vocal on Superstition and Smoke...

Attendance was not that great - club looked half full. But people were diggin' it, esp. as the night went on...

Gotta get some sleep now. More later.

D

Thanks Damien, a late night, eh Must have been a wild one, look forward to your full report & pix when you're ready

Meanwhile, came across this brief snippet...GLENN joined forces last night with Paul Stanley, Mark Farner and a host of other camp counselors to perform a bunch of KISS and other songs! Included were 'Shout It Out Loud', 'Rock 'N' Roll All Nite', 'Detroit Rock City', 'Strutter', 'Rock 'N' Roll All Nite', 'Detroit Rock City' as well as the song 'I'm Your Captain/ Closer To Home', LED ZEPPELIN's 'Rock N' Roll', BAD COMPANY's 'Can't Get Enough Of Your Love', ROLLING STONES' 'Honky-Tonk Woman', IDES OF MARCH's 'Vehicle', CREAM's 'Sunshine Of Your Love' and FREEs 'Alright Now'.

Looks like they've been pulled from YouTube, so not a lot I can do about that!

Can you say: "The Work Tapes?"

Nope.
Wasn't me.
I....KNOW....what I sound like.
And after singing along with GH, with my car CD player,
nobody should have to suffer that much, listening to my "singing."
TRUST ME ON THIS.........

PS.......But I would love to hear that "camper & GH duet"!!!

Here's a clip of the Stevie Wonder classic, "Superstition" as performed by GLENN and the lucky campers who attended the Rock'n'Roll Fantasy Camp this past week in New York City.

You can also find a couple of others, "You Keep On Moving" and an all original song, "Wild'n'Free", taken from the BB King's performance this past Monday, over in the Gallery section of the site - well worth checking out, as you'll find GLENN playing lead guitar on an Iommi-inspired Gibson SG

Boy, am I ever sorry that I asked for this.
ALL VERSIONS of "You Keep On Moving" were always OK by me.
Until now.

Somebody should have returned the tuition fee to this "camper."
She could then have used the money to buy clothes that fit.

To be really honest, I'm rather furious that somebody took
that classicly beautiful YKOM, and tried to make it into
"Shake your _ _ _ and try to make your pants fall down."
I don't believe that that was the original intent of the lyrics.

Grace,
Could not agree more...see what 9K will get you? That would be a chance to embarrass yourself for 1200 people. She reminded me of the "National Anthem" singers we deal with daily in the Minor Leagues; people who THINK they can carry a tune, so turn a minute and a half song into a five minute atrocity

But heck, she did get to rub elbows with Glenn

Thanks for agreeing with me, Frank.

You know, for all the practice that we seriously crazy GHCPs have had,
singing along with Glenn, (usually in our cars, because the neighbors
would call the cops for our making too much noise as we sing along)
I think that if any of us found ourselves on a stage with Glenn,
all we would be able to sing would be a Ralph Kramden-style:
Homina...homina......homina.

You couldn't pay.....ME.....enough money,
to even....TRY.....to sing along with somebody as spectacular as our boy.

Unless I woke up tomorrow and discovered that I was Anita Baker.
Or Patti LaBelle.

THEN I COULD SAY:
"OK, HUGHES......LISTEN UP, AND PAY ATTENTION.
YOU MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING."

But until that happens......Glenn's still the music, and I'm still the audience.

Icon27 Fantasy Camp with Soldier and Rock Stars!

This is very COOL!!! David Fishof invited a US Soldier to the camp and look who he gets to sit next to! Also the clip shows Mark Farner (from GFR) talking about the groove of the "military musician" Great shots of Rock's Royalty in the background too!

Here's an alternate version of the all original song that GLENN and his students wrote, "Wild'n'Free", performed at
BB King's in NYC last week.

For those curious, the female singer is Stephanie Stokes, who's daytime job is stuntwoman for many TV/movies filmed in the NYC area and elsewhere! Other campers in the band are Richard "Woody" Lewis on Guitar, Dik Markarian on Bass, George Beck on Drums, and also Chris Gailfoil on drums
