Icon33 What's the point?

This was in today's news at MelodicRock.com -

IOMMI MP3 SAMPLES REMOVED:
I regret to say that I have been asked to immediately remove the 5 one minute samples promoting the upcoming Iommi record Fused - featuring Glenn Hughes. The message came from Glenn's webmaster, but apparently Iommi management are at the root of the decision. Hopefully some promotion will be allowed to continue! I was seriously impressed with the quality of the album and the performances within. Glenn's website has also removed samples.

Does Iommi's management believe sound samples will have a negative impact on sales, or what? MelodicRock is the world's leader in getting word out about projects like Fused. I can't imagine what would prompt a request for removal of the samples from that site, GH.com and GHPG. Haven't seen any requests like that from other artists' management, I have to say.

This album's gonna be a real firecracker, and Glenn and Tony should be showing that off - a few samples to build the buzz certainly won't hurt a thing.

Cheers...Todd

The promos are already sent to the radiostations.
Anyone can download illegaly the complete cd on the net....
But if you are a real fan, you'll buy the original cd.....
Anyway this cd is a bomb, a real winner !
Congratulations Glenn and Tony

I originally thought of this as a joke,
but maybe it should be a serious answer.

Could somebody (Tony Iommi) be worried that
if you put all 5 of the one-minute clips together,
you would have a club/dance/hard rock/fusion
(whatever you want to call it) record?

Which, in my opinion, would STILL be great publicity for "Fused."

Hi

It didn't surprise me that the samples were removed. The album went from being a Iommi/Hughes album, to a Iommi solo album featuring Glenn Hughes. What is up with Iommi's manager. Control freak or what!! I always thought that the idea was to promote your artist.

Can't say i was overly inspired by the samples but i will reserve judgement until i have bought, and heard the full album.

Best wishes to Glenn and all of you

Paul

Ya' think?
No, Paul.......when you're talking about Glenn Hughes,
the usual procedure is NO publicity and NO promotion.

Read back as far as you can, with the posts here, and at:
www.glennhughes.com
and you will see that we Glenn Hughes Crazy People are
always complaining about Glenn's lack of publicity, no matter
who his record company is.

TV appearances in America?
Talk shows?
MTV?
Never.
Well, not yet anyway.

Unfortunately today, the best voice in rock,
is also one of the best kept secrets.
We GHCPs live for the day when this situation will change,
and our boy gets the recognition that he deserves.
That's why we're all waiting to see what happens with "Fused."

Meanwhile, welcome to the board!!!!

Grace
