My e-mail has arrived. I've just booked my train tickets for travelling to and from London. I haven't arranged time off work yet, but I'm sure it won't be a problem. Can't wait to get to this incredibly special event. See you there!

The invitations for those that have ore-ordered the book have gone out, as have invitations for the first group of competition winners.

For those who haven't received their invitation, it's most likely because the invitation email has been blocked by your spam filter. Also, perhaps you inadvertently unsubscribed from Foruli's mailing list and so they were unable to send anything to you via email.

If anybody has bought a copy of the autobiography and wishes to go to the event, but has not received their invitation or has unsubscribed from Foruli's mailing list, they should contact the email address below, ASAP!

Hey all,

I'm probably the only one, but I'd love it if Glenn did an audiobook version of his book on CD. I mean, come on, read by The Man himself? I'd be the first to buy it!

What do others think?

Looks fab! I held an unproofed copy in my hands last Thursday and I have to say it looks amazing and I can't wait to get my hands on the whole thing and read all of it! The school report comment against music made me giggle 'pleasing voice'. Oh to be that music teacher and think how much of an underestimation that was!

Anybody knows if the Sabbath era is well represented? I would love to see/read some unreleased live photos/stories from that period.

Still wonder about the amount of photos in the paperback edition... which on amazon.co.uk has already been reduced from 14.95 to 12.71.

It's not the same book, so don't expect it to be. Text will be same, put there's a reason the other editions are Limited

At last page 3 of the book resolves a long cloudy GH mystery. What is his actual Bday! I knew the real answer years ago but never saw anything confirming it. I first got word of this when I posted on DC's site and he mentioned words to the effect of GH actually NOT being 50 in 2002. I asked someone in the know and they confirmed it. Ok, so it indeed is:

August 21, 1951.

I sent an e-mail to Foruli today. They replied saying it will be about four weeks before orders start shipping. The books are still being printed and then have to be 'hand stitched and hand bound'.

I know it will be worth the wait in the end, but I'm getting increasingly frustrated by all the delays. Why hold a launch party and generate loads of media publicity for a book that no one can actually get? That's not a great business plan.

Rant over. I'll love it when it arrives. Eventually.

Ian

Ian,
Maybe they had to reprint page 3. Look at the post of JohnH...

Lars Ulrich from Metallica get's his copy (he wrote the Foreward) of Glenn's limited edition Autbiography yesterday, backstage at the Sonisphere Festival in the UK.

Photography: copyright Andy Vella/Foruli 2011

Hand binding of all the pre-ordered sets is well underway, and the publishers expect to start shipping within the next 2-4 weeks.

Great to see Lars Ulrich has received his copy of Glenn's book. All I got last week was a very cheeky e-mail from Foruli when I asked for an update about my copy and dared to criticise their customer service.

Cool

A Message from Foruli (on Monday) ...

Quote:
Hi,

We are delighted to announce that copies of 'Deep Purple & Beyond: Scenes from the Life of a Rock Star' by Glenn Hughes with Joel McIver will start shipping at the end of next week. Our book binder has been working hard to get copies ready for those who pre-ordered, and has promised us delivery on Wednesday 20th July. It will take a few days to get all the sets compiled with signature plates, records, prints etc. but we will be putting everybody at Foruli on to it (and we do mean everybody!), so that we can start shipping copies as soon as humanly possible. We will email with shipping and tracking details when your copy has been sent.

We know that it taken a while to get copies out. We wanted to ensure that everything is of the best possible quality and also needed some extra time to add some text about Glenn's successful new band, Black Country Communion. We think it has been worth the wait. We are delighted with how the editions have turned out, and very much hope that you will be too.

Please do get in touch if you have any queries.

All the best from all at Foruli

Just ordered the paperback. Delivery time is supposed to be 2-3 weeks I'll keep my fingers crossed. If it's delayed, I'll send a complaint to you, Christian !
