Icon27 Jon Lord Memorial Concert 2014

Originally planned for 2013, this special concert, organised by the Sunflower Jam people, has now been confirmed for the Royal Albert Hall, April 4. 2014, under the title Celebrating Jon Lord.

Deep Purple are now officially confirmed to appear but sadly Blackmore has issued a statement that he wont be

The Orion Orchestra conducted by Paul Mann

It would be nice if Glenn and DC were to turn up for the show.

It's a great pity Ritchie has said he is not willing to turn up, it would have been great to bury the hatchet once and for all. However you have to respect Ritchie's position and he was very public with his grief after Jon's death (very moving interview on BBC radio 4's Brief Lives programme)

I assume they were invited. Let's wait and see for last minute confirmations.

Meanwhile the great Bernie Marsden has been added to the guest list.

Just yesterday I found an interview with Jon from 2011. He said then that he still had close contact with Ian Paice (of course, as brothers-in-law), Ian Gillan and Ritchie Blackmore too.
When asked about all the discrepancies in the band, his last reply was
