Icon49 Rock N Roll Allstars - South & Central America 2012

Glenn will join the Rock N Roll Allstars in South and Central America in April and May.

He will join a new all-star project featuring Def Leppard singer, Joe Elliot, Gene Simmons (KISS) and former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach, former Guns N' Roses stars Duff McKagan (bass), Matt Sorum (drums) and Gilby Clarke (guitar), plus Ed Roland from Collective Soul, guitarists Steve Stevens from Billy Idol and Billy Duffy from The Cult and bassist Mike Inez from Alice In Chains.

Glenn plans to sing the Deep Purple classic, "Burn", amongst others, and said he is really looking forward to the tour:

Quote:

So this gonna be the Rockn' Roll allstars spectaculum?
Ok, i'm wondering a bit that Glenn will play "smoke on the water" and "highway star", but i'm shure he'll do it right!

And the rest of it?.. so welcome to the jungle,.. but the jungle is deserted because Bananas are sold out, (Steve Morse bought them all, i'm fearing he's right, ey!)

If i had the choice to visit a Def Leppard concert or one of a bavarian brassband, i'd prefer the brassband! (certainly i wouldn't wait until the encore!)

regards
Sigurd

I know this will be good for the name of Glenn Hughes, but I think it's a shame that he has to do Highway Star and Smoke.
That are songs he, in fact, has nothing to do with.
Burn, Stormbringer and You Keep On Movin' would be better choices.

Don't like this kind of gigs.

Ortsbo Live & Global: Rock-N-Roll Allstars

Monday, April 23rd
5:00PM Eastern (2:00PM Pacific / 10:00PM UK / 11:00PM CET)

“Ortsbo continues to have huge success with its Live & Global events and I’m thrilled to be hosting a real-time conversation between fellow rock legends, die-hard fans and myself during this first-of-its-kind tour,” said Simmons. “We know that great music is universal and I think Ortsbo is the key to a one-world language. This Live & Global session is going to be a great addition to the tour and venue, and I’m looking forward to giving our fans a ‘back stage pass’ to talk with us!”

The Buenos Aires show is the third of ten stops the Rock-N-Roll Allstars tour will make in venues throughout Central and South America. At this one show only, fans from all over the world will be able to participate in the Ortsbo Live & Global broadcast and pose their questions to rock legends Gene Simmons (KISS), Joe Elliott (Def Leppard), Matt Sorum and Duff McKagan (Guns ‘n’ Roses), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row), Mike Inez (Alice in Chains) and Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple).

"Music is universal and so are our fans,” said Matt Sorum. “It's great to use Ortsbo to promote our tour to everyone in their own native language. Can't wait to get questions on April 23rd from every corner of the planet."

“Internationally celebrated rock stars like Gene Simmons and Matt Sorum have, in many ways, set the standard for connecting with fans worldwide,” said David Lucatch, CEO of Ortsbo. “Our own previous record for simultaneous translation of a live event is 160 plus countries. With Gene and other big-names listed on the 'Allstar' roster, we’re looking forward to breaking that record and seeing rock fans from all over the world enjoy what is lined up to be another memorable ‘Live and Global’ event.”

Ortsbo has had very successful Live & Global multi-lingual Q&A sessions including Marvel’s recent worldwide premiere of “The Avengers,” and other broadcasts featuring Gene Simmons interviewing the legendary Stan Lee at the Sundance Film Festival, a Steven Spielberg global event, Variety Magazine’s coverage of the BAFTA Awards red carpet, IndyCar racing events and at the Classic Rock Awards at London’s Roundhouse.

RockandRollAll Stars in Europe: wow! Gene and Glenn on the same bill, very interesting I was waiting for a Glenn solo tour to come, but this is a nice alternative (wish Glenn will do some more songs).

Today's scheduled, Metal Open Air (Sao Luis, Brazil) festival appearance, has been cancelled...

Quote:
Rock N' Roll Allstars are saddened to annouce the cancellation of our performance at Metal Open Air Festival in Sao Luis, Brazil.

We regret not being able to attend. We are in South America and are ready to rock, but the circumstances are beyond our control: We were informed before flying to Brazil today that many other artists have pulled out of the event, as well as local security. We are very concerned for the safety of the fans and artists whom are already at the festival.

We are receiving confirmed reports from other bands and friends on the ground that the event is dangerous and a disaster. Please be safe, and we look forward to rocking for you in the future.

Rock on,

Rock N' Roll Allstars

If true, it's highly disappointing for local fans, although it shouldn't be too surprising from that region, what with it's reputation of unscrupulous promoters ~ but I'm sure if plans have had to be changed, a statement of some sort, will be forthcoming...

Looks like just the Lima, Peru gig is left to do...

Quote:
ROCK-N-ROLL ALLSTARS FORCED TO CANCEL SHOWS IN ECUADOR, COLOMBIA, PANAMA, GUATEMALA AND VENEZUELA; SHOW IN LIMA, PERU STILL SCHEDULED

Statement From Rock-N-Roll Allstars:

Rock-N-Roll Allstars regret to inform our fans that the shows we had scheduled in Ecuador, Colombia, Costa Rica, Panama, Guatemala and Venezuela have been cancelled. An incredible effort was made to work with local promoters to bring our show to the fans but they made it impossible for us to do so. We are saddened that we will not be coming to Central America and will do everything possible to ensure that our fans receive refunds for all tickets purchased. We are in South America and just had amazing shows in Paraguay and Argentina where thousands of fans came to hear the hits of Guns N' Roses, KISS, Def Leppard and more.

The show in Lima, Peru is still on sale and the band is still playing this show.

Thank you for your support and we hope to see each and every one of you soon.

Rock on,

Rock-N-Roll Allstars

Final statement ~ they will be back

Quote:
ROCK-N-ROLL ALLSTARS:

STATEMENT FROM THE ARTISTS REGARDING ECUADOR, GUATEMALA, COSTA RICA, COLOMBIA, PANAMA, AND VENEZUELA GIGS

All of the artists involved in the Rock-N-Roll Allstars have built careers by going to far-off places to play. We have all toured the world countless times and have been absolutely HONORED by fans showing up whenever and wherever we have separately gone.

This honor is a reciprocal thing and cancelling gigs will always be a measure of very last resort for us artists.

To do a tour like we have just done down here took some risk. No promoter or agent had really ever done a show of this particular caliber; so it was in this realm that some yet unproven “agents” entered the playing field.

A big tour was proposed to us about 10 or so weeks ago, but as the leave-time for us approached, it was clear that some of these gigs were just not going to happen for varying reasons: Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Panama, and Guatemala.

We trusted the organizer of this tour, but became aware of some gross underlying problems as this tour progressed. These problems - as it turned out- had nothing to do with the local promoters of these aforementioned countries, and EVERYTHING to do with this tour organizer.

We will regroup and reschedule these shows for a later date. Think of them as only postponed - and we are more than a bit bummed out for our fans that we love so damn much.

Rock-N-Roll Allstars shall come back to these countries. That is a promise. We will use the right people and honor you true fans, who just simply want to rock. That is all we want to do. We shall return!

With our most sincere respect to you all,

Rock-N-Roll Allstars
