Arrow Ritchie Blackmore: four instrumental classics!

I recently listened a lot to The Ballads of Rainbow (on the booklet), also called Rainbow The Best Ballads (thats the title on the cd). A kind of strange (semi-illegal????????) cd. Sometimes very cheap to get at record-fairs.
What I like about these cd especially are the four instrumental songs in a row of Blackmore and Rainbow. Anybody There, Maybe Next Time, Snowman and the superb Weiss Heim. In total about 15 minutes of instrumental guitar songs, which is of such a high standard, that it is almost surreal. What if, Ritchie had recorded a complete instrumental album of this level. Wow!
I listen often to Dixie Dreggs or Joe Satriani solo. Steve and Joe are excellent players, but these four songs are phenomenal.
The last very good Blackmores Night album was Village Lantern. Rainbow again will never happen, I think. But a instrumental Ritchie Blackmore Band album, with acoustic and electric songs is one of my biggest music wishes.
Ritchie rules (again????)

Another great instrumental, only recorded with Deep Purple, is Son Of Alerik.
When this song is finished after 10 minutes or so I always push the repeat button. Magical.

The best instrumental is Weiss Heim.
I still remember it playing over the PA while leaving a Rainbow concert (twice that year).
Waited with leaving untill the track was over.

i've often thought an instrumental Blackmore album would be a good idea - whether new tracks or old.

Weiss Heim is a masterpiece. there's also A200, Still Im Sad and Grabsplatter to name but three.

then add in his instrumentals with The Lancasters, The Outlaws, the RB Orchestra, Green Bullfrog etc.

2 of my more obscure favourites are Playground (Mark 1 DP) and Guitar Job (Mk2). check them all out!

Currently listening to Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar Job

Son of Alerik is indeed a very good song. Strange that it wasn't on the original Perfect Strangers (commercial reasons????). Great that it is now on the CD version of the album. Not Responsible and Son of Alerik are superb Perfect Strangers songs
