Arrow Doogie White and Demons Eye album:Classic Purple Style

On 21 March there will be the release of Demon's Eye featuring Doogie White with the album THE STRANGER WITHIN. If you are a big fan of seventies DP or Rainbow you should listen to this. 12 fantastic songs (brand new) by excellent musicians (they played with Ian Paice and Jon Lord before). This is what DP and Rainbow fans would like to hear today from DP and Ritchie Blackmore and Co., but won't get anymore from them.

This is more than just a tribute band: it's the best DP tribute band ever (some say better than DP 2011) and they go even further with these own songs

Cool new songs! Not into buying tribute albums (other than TB fest with GH) so new music sounds cool!

yesterday i saw the promo video from Demons Eye. Deep respect for this work, it really sounds great. Seems to me they are playing the style of Rainbow/"stranger in us all" very credible. Doogie White is the absolute right singer for this type of Purple/Rainbow sound. Of course its more Rainbow than Purple.

Is someone going to a show of Demons Eye and Doogie. Post a review here please They had a show planned in Kerkrade, the Rock Temple, but it is unfortunately cancelled. I know they are doing more shows, but so is BCC, DP, Whitesnake, JON, DON, Nick Simper, EBC ROXX. So I have to make a choice. So far I have tickets for DON and BCC (more to come)!

Here's the review bit of the album from deep-purple.net

Quote:
Opener, 'The Unknown Stranger' kicks in with a old school Jon Lord riff before heading off into reunion era Purple mode. Then it's back into Rainbow mode for 'Sins Of The Father' before it's Joe Lynn Turner ballad time on 'The Best Of Times'. There are a few late period Rainbow tunes in a row before they throw a bit of a curveball on 'Heaven Again' , which is more of a funky Glenn Hughes number. Then it's back into reunion Purple for 'A Foolish Man', before the album highlight arrives in the shape of the near ten-minute 'Far Over The Rainbow'. You won't be surprised to hear that it's their Dio-era Rainbow number!

The album proper ends with a nod to Blackmore's Night on the instrumental 'La Vent Lament', before they offer up an extended version of 'The Best Of Times' as a bonus track. Doogie White is in good voice, and it's nice to hear him wrapping his voice around some really good tunes. There's no doubting that the rest of Demon's Eye are excellent musicians, and regardless of the glaring copycat style, I just found myself grinning all the way through the record. You just don't hear this kind of music anymore, certainly not from the originators, and it's well worth checking out.
