Icon34 BCC Wolverhampton LIVE debut in the UK

Off stage now

Early reports say the setlist was almost the entire album (different running order) plus Led Zep's "No Quarter", Bonamassa's "Ballad Of John Henry" and ending with Purple's "Burn".

Here's a few pix links

Excellent !

Just got back. Show was excellent, crowd great - and noisy, Zep cover was a pleasant surprise (not spoiling it for those going to London) and Bonham was IMMENSE !
Of course, nothing is perfect and if I was Mr Sherinian I would want to shoot the sound guy (or slip him a few dollars to turn his volume up).
And don't miss the support tomorrow - They were great too. I hope they shifted a few CD's in the foyer.
Off to bed now, ears ringing just like the good old days.

Just got home after an absolutely fantastic show

It was one of those occasions when you can say "I WAS THERE". At the birth of a music giant in the making?

First off, a massive for Joanne Shaw Taylor.
Wow, now that is my kind of hard n heavy blues rock.
I can see why Classic Rock have rated her so highly - 3rd best blues album of 2010.
She's going to be supporting Glenn on his 2011 solo tour at the Buxton and York shows
She also signed cd's at the merch stall after her set so got both signed - check her out - JST

BCC came on at 8.30 and the pace, power and sheer talent of 4 guys on top of their game shone thru

I cant remember the set list but they opened with Black Country and proceeded to kick the ass out of the entire album - tho not in the album order.
Also threw in an unbelievably great version of a Led Zep song whose name escapes me right now a Joe B number and an encore of Burn that went down a storm. Standing ovation all round the upstairs balcony

I have to say that Jason Bonham was brilliant. Easily as good as Chad with GH When i say he played "lead drums" you'll hopefully get the idea. A real character who got the crowd going.

Derek had a chance to shine and add the layers and Joe was A great live voice on his songs too.

All four were really tight as if they were halfway through a major tour.

This was Glenn back in his element and where he belongs - the big stage.

Sorry no pics but shot a bit of video. I bet there's plenty on Youtube before i get a chance to post though.

An absolutely brilliant show - think i said that already

Oh, and an 11 date UK solo tour with full dates confirmed too!

I'm not very good at putting into words what I am hearing in my head, but here goes....

Well what can I say about last night in Wolverhampton. The Civic Hall was the only place these guys could of kicked off what will hopefully be a long career as BCC. The whole band were on fire with Joe Bonamassa in particular absolutely tearing the place apart. Glenn Hughes for me is pound for pound the greatest singer in the world, he can still hit all the high notes and last night he was the ultimate pro. It took a couple of songs to get the sound spot on but from their on it was a perfect blend of all instruments and vocals. All but 2 songs (No Time and Stand at the Burning Tree) off the new disc were played plus Zeps No Quarter, all 15 minutes, Bonamassas Ballad of John Henry, Trapeze' Medusa which is on the BCC disc, and to round out the evening we were treated to a glorious version of Purples Burn. Each of the songs from the new cd came across very well in a live sitiuation and will continue to do so for years to come.

Black Country
One Last Soul
Beggarman
Revolution
Down Again
Too Late For The Sun
Song Of Yesterday
Ballad Of John Henry
Great Divide
Medusa
No Quarter
Sista Jane
Black Country**Reprise
----encore----
Burn.

Another excellent review (with pix) from last night's debut gig in Wolverhampton is in this mornings' Black Country based, Express & Star newspaper...

Quote:
From the moment Hughes’ thunderous bass riff introduced the song Black Country it was like a torch had been lit underneath the famous old venue, the ghosts of rock Christmases past roaring into the present.

Not much left to add really, thanks to BCC for a great night. Biggest venue i,ve seen Glenn in,his vocals were even more earth shattering with a bigger production Fave tracks for me were 'song of yesterday','medusa' and 'no quarter'.

The whole band excelled and the vocal interplay from Glenn and Joe was a real treat for me

Icon34 BCC - Civic Hall Review (Wolverhampton Chronicle)

Here is another excellent review of the Civic Hall concert published in the Sandwell Courier (part of the Wolverhampton Courier newspaper group) on Thursday, January 6th, 2011.

Quote:
From the moment Hughes' thunderous bassline introduced the band's anthem, Black Country, the song which topped and tailed the gig, the sell-out audience knew they were in for something special. And they were.

The band even made it on to the masthead on the front page of the newspaper
