Glenn Hughes is back in a big way. He began his career with Trapeze before moving on to work with such huge arena rock acts as Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, but a debilitating drug problem sidelined him in the 1980s, damaging his career and nearly taking his life.

Hughes has been clean and sober for many years now, and has recorded and toured consistently, working in a variety of styles from funk rock, to blues rock, to jazz rock and more.

His latest project is the all-star hard rock group Black Country Communion, which has been making a huge splash internationally even though the record won't be out until September. Featuring Hughes on bass and vocals, Joe Bonamassa on guitar, Jason Bonham on drums and Derek Sherinian on keyboards, the group is likely to be one of the great hard rock successes of the year, if not the decade.

Glenn Hughes joined us on Long Live Rock to discuss the new group and upcoming album. He talks about the ups and downs of his career, how he came back from drugs and alcohol, his excitement at playing in Black Country Communion, press rumors about the band, the death of his friend Ronnie James Dio, and much more. This is a very in-depth interview that you won't want to miss!

Long Live Rock is an interview show featuring in-depth exclusives with some of rock music's greatest artists. Host Sterling Whitaker is a Nashville-based music journalist, and the author of two books: 'Unsung Heroes of Rock Guitar' in 2003, and 2007's 'The Grand Delusion: The Unauthorized True Story of Styx'.

Whitaker has appeared as a guest on VH1, BBC Radio, and radio stations all over North America and has interviewed an impressive list of classic rock and progressive rock personalities for his podcast show We Will Rock You. Co-host Jeb Wright is one of the most recognized and respected classic rock journalists in the genre. As the founder and editor of Classic Rock Revisited, for the last ten years Wright has interviewed a virtual Who's Who of Classic Rock, Hard Rock and Metal performers. Each year he conducts the Jumbotron interviews for the Moondance Jam, and in 2009, to celebrate the first decade of Classic Rock Revisited, he released his first book 'From The Vault Series 1: Stadium Rock'.
