not an easy question!! I listened to a bit of live Rainbow from '77 yesterday, had a blast of "Spectrum" and "Innervisions" earlier on today, and am enjoying a glass of red wine and "Beyond the Notes" at the moment so i think I'll go for:

GH - Bass/vocals
Ritchie Blackmore - Guitar (the RB from 73-78 please!!)
Stevie Wonder - Keyboards/vocals
Jon Lord - Hammond/Piano
Billy Cobham - Drums

PJ

Jimi Hendrix: Guitar

Eddie Van Halen: Guitar

Billy Sheehan: Bass

Jon Lord: Keyboards

John Bonham: Drums

Backing Vocals:Paul Rodgers,Robert Plant,David Coverdale,Peter Frampton and Janis Joplin.

Can't begin to imagine what the final sound/style would'ave been like!!!! maybe two months in rehearsals needed to sort that out.

hey, I thought of one.... and there is actually a recording by this band, unreleased in the vaults... very sadly....

Keith Emerson - key
Marc Bonilla - g
Glenn Hughes - voc, b
Shane Gaalaas - dr

Add Ed Roth on extra keys and the bassist that played the Mini Tour - who was it, btw? - and you get the line-up that was actually recorded!

No, seriously - I can't think of a perfect all-star band.
My dream line-up would change almost daily, depending on the mood I'm in

Later,
Christian

Well,Jimi is too messy, let's have Jimmy Page on guitar,Glenn Hughes on bass and vocals, let us pray the Lord for John Bonham to come back on drums, and if neccessary,we'll invite John Paul Jones on keyboards. What do you think of that?Robert will probably kill me...Lot of fun,Percy,we love you.
