Icon31 Fan flies to States to see his idol!

Yes folks, thats the headline to a story in our local paper - The Chase Post.

you may have already seen the scan i posted previously where the paper mentioned Glenn had been wowing the USA. Well, i emailed the paper with a couple of pics and said i went to the shows myself.

I mentioned the chat - all publicity is good publicity i hope David.

Here is what was printed in this weeks edition.

Excellent wolfy Wish my local rag would do the same for us whenever Shirean and I fly over

Be careful though with the proposed venue in Cannock, you might end up as the bouncer

Serously though, cheers for the mention, as you say, it's all good

Thumbs up

Now that you are the most popular person in Cannock, you must beware of all the people knocking on your door asking for money..."after all Paul, if you have THAT kind of money, you certainly can spare a few quid for your neighbor ..." Good plug for the chat and Mel too...so when the show comes to Cannock everyone will know just why Cannock's favorite son will be there.

Great post, great way to get the word out !!!

BOO HOO!

Too bad that I didn't get that famous

Glenn Hughes CANNOCK PERSON's autograph

when I had the chance to, in New York.

He'll probably forget us little people, now

PS.......Great work, "fan."

Despite living away for 30 years, Glenn still has plenty of friends back "home" in all sorts of places including the press

I only sent the briefest of emails, not a review. They picked out the important bits i think

Mel took some ribbing at the pub today - "local boy made good" was mentioned a few times

So now our mission is to get Glenn to see if Carl can make any contacts with the right people and set up a show in the forest.

Those of you who make the chat on July 22nd might like to drop it in to the conversation!

And David, when you & Shirean, Frank, Chip, Todd, Vinny, John H, Ko, Grace, the Philly Guys and Bill fly over for it I will make sure you all get in the paper!

Wolfy, why does this idea scare me?

Could it be, these possible "Chase Post" newspaper headlines?

#1. Cannock overrun by Glenn Hughes Crazy People
#2. Mel Galley kidnapped - cardboard boxes also taken
#3. Hooligans roam quiet neighborhoods looking for GH souvenirs
#4. Restaurant tourists demand bagels/pastrami - food fight ensues

and my personal favorite.......OOPS.....favourite......

#5. Serial killer on the loose - police baffled

WILL CANNOCK BE ABLE TO SURVIVE??????
I DOUBT IT.

Wolfy, getting my name in the paper, as Grace says, could be a double-edged sword. Besides the "serial killer on the loose" I think "Overweight guy with funny accent eats half of Cannock" could once again prove American GHCPs are not people who should be invited to special events

And by the way - I totally second this scenario, especially the Cannock overrun by Glenn Hughes Crazy People bit.

Nice work wolfy as you say Glenn's local press are very interested in Glenn's work. We also received a positive response from the Wolverhampton and Birmingham press to the UK tour.

Icon34 National Lampoon's Brummie Vacation

I still am all for the Viking longboat to get all of us over to the UK. I think we can muster the manpower to make that happen!

Hey...if this becomes a movie, who gets to play Clark Griswald the role originally played by Chevy Chase? I think that Grace and I will get deported for smuggling in bagels and Drake's Cakes and Frank's arrival will be followed shortly by an unexplainable shortage of oysters....

I wonder if we can find one of those huge station wagons over in the UK and drive all of us in it down to Cannock....just make sure that someone spray paints "Honky Lips" on one of the fenders!

Till then....

The Philly Guys in England! Now THAT would be funny!

Why not though?

I'm guessin we can't get a cheese steak over there in Cannock, eh?

I know the beer is good so I'd be fine

Well we have drive thru KFC and MacD here in town John!

Good to see you post. Hope you got my email.

Not sure about Oysters for Frank.

Jayne could make us all Yorkshire Puddings eh Ben!

We would all have to go to the Padma - Glenn's favourite Indian Restaurant.

Hi Frank,John,Wolfy

We're doing well thanks, Frank - guess you might have to 'downgrade' to cockles & whelks rather than the Oysters......mmm lovely

Yorkshire puddings ,with a nice chicken vindaloo piled up in the middle - sounds great, Wolfy

You might find the cheese 'steak' to be more cheese 'blob' - best stick to the beer, John

~ I LOVE YOU GH CRAZY PEOPLE ~

Here's wolfy, doing a great job of writing to the local newspaper,
to drum up publicity for "the home town boy."
He makes one mistake by suggesting that we show up,
and what happens?

In just a few posts, the invasion plans have begun.......
Bill wants a Viking longboat to invade the United Kingdom.
Ben will have "wheels" available for us.....I think it's called a "Bambino?"
And we're gonna' have home-made Yorkshire pudding.
(Plus Chris will add an international touch from Austria.)
Cannock would never recover......

Now all we need is for wolfy to finagle a deal with the local
constabulary to pre-pay our bail money, and we're all set!

Oh.....and we have to wait for Glenn to actually appear in Cannock.

But other than that minor detail,
the Glenn Hughes Crazy People are ready to rock and roll.............
