Icon47 JJ's Xmas gift - Into The Light

Today we received some excellent Christmas cheer all the way from Sweden!

JJ Marsh is giving us all an early Christmas present in the form of a full song from his soon to be distributed debut solo album.

Into The Light is a prime cut from the album, clocking in at 9 minutes 40 seconds, the FREE DOWNLOAD (MP3 - 320kbps - 22MB), gives us great insight as to what to expect from the full production, when it finally reaches us sometime in 2006.

** FREE Full Song DOWNLOAD **

INTO THE LIGHT

You can also hear some other short samples from the debut by visiting this web page:

Great song! So is that JJ singing too (the credits don't say)? A bit of Trower going into the solo...good mix...cool riffs! I'm imagining the band playing live, and it's amazing. (Would that be considered a mental bootleg?)

Cheers...Todd

Icon38 Swede connection...

Yes indeed, that's JJ on vocals. He takes that lead role for the entire album, same for the Bass and Chimes, plus of course his Gibson Flying V!!

Also of note, Tomas Bodin (The Flower Kings), makes an appearance on 2 songs, contributing his talent on the Organ, Fender Rhoads, Mellotron, Moog Syntheziser, Strings and Cowbell. As you probably know his collaboration with JJ goes back quite a while - most recently JJ has worked with Tomas on his 2005 solo release, 'I AM' and in 2003, 'Sonic Boulevard'.

Wow, what a monumental track! So many moods/ directions which all link really well - are we hearing JJ's ' Mistreated' ie his signature tune already?

Bet it'll be brilliant live

Toadsterama can hear Trower, I can hear Pat Travers after about 4 minutes in

Thanks David for sharing & JJ for allowing us to hear this great song - can't wait for the finished album!
Cheers
Ben

Thumbs up Into The Light

Fantastic stuff and the vocals are great too!

You can certainly hear his influences, but must admit I don't hear Travers at all, but certainly some of the others mentioned, even The Who in places. Despite that, it still sounds fresh and uniquely his, which is quite an achievement in my book.

Look forward to buying the full album when it's available.

Love this track. Didnt JJ say Albatross were gonna have a lead singer? Or is he sticking with it himself - i think he should.

Any timescales for release David? or a JJ Marsh website?

I totally agree with you, Wolfy, mate!

Musically, I found just in the song "Into the Light" more musical ideas packed together, than in other bands complete albums!

The only thing I would have changed is the mix. Jockes voice is very low during the verses. His voice is absolutely okay, he doesnt have to hide it behind the BIG guitars....

Im waiting for a lifesign of Albatross or J.J. too, perhaps in form of a website, providing some news about the current status. Although I would wish so, I dont think Jocke will overtake leadvocals in a live performance of Albatross. Some rhythmic parts on the guitars, some breaks and bridges are not so easy to play and sing simultanously. But we will see. If Gary Moore can do, Joakim can do ....

I would LOVE to see Jocke and Tomas Broman live again, I think they rock! Although Glenn is very devoted into Chad Smith, for my three cent Tomas Broman is THE drummer who really rocks!

cheers, Achim
