Thumbs up Thumbs up!

More praise is bestowed on Fused, this time from Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler

Quote:
... I want to congratulate Tony Iommi for the best album I've heard in years. Sabbath fans, and Iommi fans, are going to be rejoicing when they hear this album. If you don't know by now, it's called "Fused." It's brilliant. Buy it!

New Interview

Friend of ours just finished interviewing Tony Iommi - a brief highlight has him saying he and Glenn don't really have a definite tourplan worked out but setlist-wise, it'll mostly be Fused and DEP Sessions stuff. He wants to tour with Glenn as much as possible, both in the US and Europe.

Once I have the whole thing, will post anyother relevant bits

Icon47 SoundBytes....

Just a quick note.....we've updated the brief soundbytes on the Fused page over in the CTC section. They contain different portions of all the songs, as compared to other sites around the 'net. Hopefully this will add to your anticipation for the upcoming release

Here are some excellent promotional pictures as featured on the upcoming release, Fused, from Tony Iommi featuring GLENN on Bass & Vocals - I dig those cool white boots, he had those on in Maui a couple of years back

.....and also in the booklet photos for "Return Of Crystal Karma."

I'm surpried though, at how beat up Glenn's red guitar looks;
(missing paint down to the wood) is that his favorite or what?

Too bad that they weren't smiling in any of the photos.....
......they remind me of "The Brothers Grimm."
C'mon guys - SMILE for the camera.

Wow! I didn't know Glenn had so much jewelry!!!!
So will Glenn's "Ringo Collection" be the prizes in the new
GHPG.NET competition?

Thanks for the great photographs, David,

I don't think smiling would really suit the image though Grace. The music will be grim heavy metal, so cheesy grins would do the boys no favours.

It reminded me of something though. I remember when I went to see the Sabbath reunion with Ozzy at the NEC, when I got back my grandma asked if I'd "had a nice time". I told her it was a great show but when she saw photos she was shocked that:

A) Sabbath didn't wear dinner suits or at least nice matching outfits

B) The audience were STOOD UP

C) She finished by commenting Geezer Butler looked like he needed "a damn good wash".

Each to their own

So now we know where you get your "smarts" from, huh?
Your grandmother sounds like "a piece of work."
She was probably right about GB needing a bath, too

PS.....Glad that you had a lovely time attending the recital
of current popular music; wearing a suit and tie, no doubt.

Take care, James, and say hello to your "Gram" for me.......

Cool More...

The above promo shots of Tony & Glenn were taken in London recently by photographer John McMurtrie. John is a music photographer who worked with Tony last year on some promo shots at the time of the release of The 1996 DEP Sessions and has an extensive portfolio of magazine cover shots available to view at his website www.picturedesk.co.uk

GLENN and Chad Smith were in London last night, attending the Metal Hammer award show, where Tony and Geezer Butler picked up the Spirit of Hammer award for Black Sabbath. The Golden Gods event, which is in its 3rd year, was held at the Astoria and was attended by the likes of Motorhead’s Lemmy, Zakk Wylde, Anthrax, Lost Prophets, plus members of Slipknot and HIM amongst others. GLENN and Chad, fresh from two fantastic shows in Holland, were watching the show from the balcony before Chad headed down to present the Sabbath award. Tony was also on hand to judge the winners of the Air Guitar competition! The awards are going to be televised on UK channel, ITV1 on Wednesday, July 6th at Midnight!

Also, the full version of the lead track Dopamine is now available to listen to HERE As with all of the tracks on the album, Dopamine was written by Tony & Glenn along with producer Bob Marlette and features Kenny Aronoff on drums. The full album will now be available on Monday, July 11th in Europe and Tuesday, July 12th in the USA.

At an awards show like this (after Glenn's Black Sabbath-inspired work with Tony of: Seventh Star, the Dep Sessions, and Fused) not even to be invited on-stage......

You have no idea how angry I am at this situation.
Well, maybe you do.
(You're a GHCP too, right?)

Just wait............
until all these people go out to buy the new Tony Iommi album,
and discover that it's a Glenn Hughes album, instead.

BALCONY......MY - - -.

Friend of our's let us know about his visit to a drum clinic yesterday featuring Kenny Aronoff....
Quote:
Just returned from a Kenny Aronoff drum clinic this evening - it was a blast! Very cool guy, great chops, played a variety of material from his career as a session musician.

He opened the night with a song that he "recorded four months ago" - one of the songs off of Fused! I didn't recognize it from the Internet broadcasts, but it kicked ass nonetheless... He commented that by the time Tony asked him to join, Tony and GLENN had already written the bulk of the material. They asked him to take a listen to it and see if he wanted to make any changes. Kenny said that the majority of the tracks were softer, more slow-paced tunes, and that he took it upon himself to give them a dose of energy/added heaviness. And you could sort of get an idea of what he might've added as his contribution to the songs from his playing and examples at the clinic. It was neat.

During the signing session, I got to talk to him for a bit... The best part was that when I gave him my Iommi 2000 CD to sign, he was visibly surprised excited to see that someone had the album there! He seemed pretty keen on playing Black Oblivion live, I wouldn't be surprised if it showed up in the setlist. He was also really enthusiastic about the new Iommi/Hughes album. He talked enthusiasticly about I Go Insane, and was taken aback at first when I mentioned that I'd heard it on that Internet broadcast. It was a bit of an awkward moment; I think he might've thought I'd Napstered it! He also thinks that Iommi's tone on this album is the best he's heard in years.

Other bits:

- There are plans for a solo tour, tentatively scheduled for October.

- There will be Sabbath songs in the set, but Kenny wasn't sure which ones. All he was able to say was that there would be "a lot of older stuff". He seemed open to playing the 1980-1995 material.

- Kenny said that he was "really looking forward to touring, so that they can get a feel for band chemistry and start recording on another album (as much of Fused was written without him).

- Finally, the rumours of a Geezer Butler/Tony Iommi co-headlining tour are true - they are working at arranging it, though it's not a done deal yet. It's what they're aiming for though. Kenny was curious about how Ohmwork sounded - unfortunately I couldn't give him many positive comments on it. Raved about Castronovo's playing when I mentioned him from Plastic Planet.

That's about it - can't wait for Fused after tonight.

Great stuff

Icon49 Fused promo...

FUSED - The brand new album from rock icon Tony Iommi, featuring Glenn Hughes on vocals.

Legendary Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi has joined forces with former Deep Purple vocalist Glenn Hughes for his latest studio album Fused.

Fused is a hard-hitting, majestic record and contains some of the best material Tony has ever written. 10 tracks in total built around those trademark guitar riffs that helped to make Black Sabbath the household name it is today.

Tony last recorded with Glenn on the 1996 DEP Sessions album and was happy to do so again. "Glenn came over to England and we did a trial run writing more material and it was unbelievable. His enthusiasm is amazing. He is so full of energy and great song ideas." The album also features drummer Kenny Aronoff, and was produced by Bob Marlette.

UK release date: July 11th, 2005
US release date: July 12th, 2005
Japan release date: July 21st, 2005
