KEN HENSLEY - sets his life story to music

Ken Hensley was guitarist and keyborder in the original line-up of Uriah Heep (amongst others "Lady In Black") and formed the style of the band exceedingly until he left it in 1980 and continued as a solo artist after a guest performance in the band Blackfoot. Now he releases a concept album which reviews his life in an emotionally stirring way.

"Blood On The Highway - When Too Many Dreams Come True" is the musical version of his autobiography which has the same name: It is a story that begins a long time ago, when a young man dared to dream of becoming a rock-star, sacrificing family, love and security and ignoring the voices that said it couldn’t be done. The story takes us through the early days, the sacrifices, the risks he had to take and on into the crazy life he lived when his dream came true and he became an international star. But with the fame came the drugs, relationships failed and the music died. In search of a way out the same determination that had once taken him from a childish dream to the top of the world helped him. Hefound the way back... to an even better place!

Beside two songs that Ken sang himself he found top-class support for this musically fascinating album: amongst others Jorn Lande (Jorn, Masterplan), John Lawton (Uriah Heep, Lucifer´s Friend), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Hughes) and the solo artist Eve Gallagher.

Does anyone know if Glenn and Ken Hensley have performed live together on stage before?
Should be an interesting and fantastic show!

That would have been too good!

I have been planning to fly to Hamburg for a long time (not for the Reeperbahn, but for appointments... yeah, really - I have been invited to visit one of our business partners and two of our own stores in Hamburg) and could have combined those two appointments with the Ken Hensley show on the 22nd!

But unfortunately we have a (TBC) gig with Medusa here in Vienna, May 23rd so Hamburg is now very unlikely for me....

Hope the filming goes well and the DVD turns out great!

Maybe I can manage it to attend the Hensley gig, its about time to visit Hamburg again, one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been.

Yeah Chris, Medusa gig...lol....seems I´ll catch you there :) We talk again these days about this issue.

Take care, brother

AN EXCELLENT REPORT! Thank you, Ad!

Ken is really a writer! He had managed to put his emotions into words! It is wonderful!
But I'm infinitely sorry that GLENN could not make the show :( The DVD would have been several times better with him!

But life goes on! Look forward to the coming US gigs!!!

Cheer up, everyone! ;)

What a pity that Glenn couldn't take part in that concert as many people just came to see him.

The poster is offered on ebay.de
