Classic Rock review of SLITCOA
The new issue of Classic Rock has a review of the new cd only. I guess like me their copy of the Dvd is in the post.

Given the workaholic flow of releases and live work since the turn of the century (which Glenn himself would be the first to admit represents the classic overdrive of the reformed addict), this live double release may seem a little unnecessary.
Fortunately, the quality control is high and although Hughes inevitably and rightly acknowledges the past, he keeps the strongest parts of his recent output firmly in focus.
The VOR himself is in typically ebullient form and has two specialist backing singers to make sure the vocal arrangements of the studio versions are successfully reproduced. High points include a powerful reading of “Written all over your face from last years SITKOR album and a thumping take on DP’s Getting Tighter from the still underrated CTTB. And Glenn, never low on confidence, pulls off the Coverdale era anthem “Mistreated. He played on it and co-wrote it, so why the hell not, he probably thought.
Glenn devotees will lap this up, but the casually curious can proceed with confidence too.

Yes, the usual three stars.

Also, there is a massive 9 page (including pics) feature on Burn. A great pic of Glenn on page 54. They have talked to DC IP and GH. Some great quotes - DC would have sung Child in Time but the others wanted to move on. I was expecting "Irish Paul" to have it all scanned up on here by now

There is a separate review by Geoff Barton of the Reissue of Burn. It gets 5 stars. The reason for the delay of the reissue could be that Geoff's promotional copy had "39th Anniversary" embossed on the front

There is also a feature on the 20 most underated albums of all time. Burn is in it.

According to a DP site (i cant remember which) DP mk3 would have made the front cover of the mag but got bumped off by Velvet Revolver at the last minute.

Thanks! I find it hard to believe the DVD still didn't find its way to Classic Rock towers, promo copies were send about a month ago. Furthermore CR editor (am I right?) Dave Ling wrote the liner notes for the booklet. It could be for the sake of objectivity?

Hi Wolfy yes I put stuff on about the Burn review on and commented that the review of Soulfully Live wasn't all that bad. So why the three stars do you think?? So far I have only heard the mp3's from Fedor but it sounds one hell of a recording and I'll be buying both and gleefully waving them at Glenn somewhere in Yorkshire in December. Cheers

Paul Sep-30-2004 6:47 AM're right, I would of put it up here, but my scanner packed up! I can't believe "39th" fell through the cracks, it doesn't bode well for this hyped up reshuffle over at Classic Rock towers!

If no-one has scanned it by Monday lunchtime i'll try and have a go from work... but no promises

What's disappointing is that once again they have to mention his drug history. Why cant they just review the music?,s,714...s/nixweiss.gif

Well said Wolfy. You lose a star because of one aspect of your past that has already been dealt with. I mean doesn't that put all of us at risk of judgement in some way? Ahhhh roll on December - write to the guy and get him down to the London gig then he can see for himself IT'S A FIVE STAR GIG!!!! If you don't I will.

Reading the comments on the DVD, maybe it's a good idea it didn't reach the magazine.
