Blackmore to rock again with Rainbow!

If Joe Lynn Turner is to be believed - and i really hope he is - then there is a strong chance of him and the Man in Black working together on a new Rainbow album

Read about it HERE and HERE.

Rainbow without Ronnie isn't really Rainbow. Not for me anyway! :(

chutsler Aug-29-2014 1:56 PM

Yvonne, I know what you mean....Bad Company without Paul Rodgers (in the 90's) wasn't Bad Company to me...

galleyfan Sep-02-2014 10:19 AM

Yes! Rainbow was better with Ronnie  but was still good with JLT, Bonnet and Doogie! :) Let's just be happy if Ritchie rocks again!

I really can't stand his current band! I would prefer Doogie was the singer again or someone like John West or Jorn

willem Sep-02-2014 11:11 AM

Blackmores Nights first three albums and Village Latern are good. But RAINBOW again is much better. RJD was the best, amazing, and so was Cozy. But JLT is very different, but the second best singer of Rainbow for me. Bonnet is not good live anymore and Doogie is average to me (not bad but not special). Rainbow with JLT and Bobby will be nice

I'd like to hear Mr. Blackmore turn up the gain and rock again. Ran across this older video interview about the Smoke on the Water guitar riff.

I too would like to hear and see Blackers rockin' again. But what happens when Ritchie tells JLT that he has to perform in tights? Would he sing even higher??? Would JLT be prepared to share the vocals with Candice? :D
Ouch, ouch, ouch! ;)

Stormbringer74 Sep-04-2014 9:46 AM

that's right !! ouch ouch ouch !!!

This is probably the scenario we'd all like to see when Ritchie is on stage. The footage was filmed in Duisburg, Germany, last Friday where the tour started this year.

I've just read a short translation excerpt of a French interview with Ritchie. He told the reporter that he plans some rock shows for June 2016. Ritchie also said he doesn't believe that JLT will be part of the band and that he (Joe) doesn't know about it yet :D

One of the shows might be at a festival in France.

Yvonne, good to hear Ritchie rockin' out with a Strat!!

moondream Jul-06-2015 1:20 PM

Yepp, I've heard about it too! It would be awesome to see him rocking again! Although (I am a bit afraid to admit it) I really like Blackmore's Night too...

tmc344 Jul-07-2015 1:56 AM

I'll only believe it when a (mini) tour is officially announced.

Wouldn't be the first or last practical joke by Blackmore.

lioness Jul-24-2015 6:59 AM

Until Ritchie rocks again, you can enjoy BN perform on the Evening Show of Bavarian TV a few days ago. The short interview at 3:50 of the first part is not dubbed.

300 years old, Mr. Blackmore? Start practising on the Strat again ;)

This is what Ritchie said to Le Parisien:

Quote:

There’s some truth but also a bit of confusion and uncertainty.

I’m thinking about playing rock again, just for a few days next June. Deep Purple and Rainbow songs – but for now, I’m not decided on the persons I want to work with.

I think Joe will not be part of the adventure, and he doesn’t know it yet. He does his thing. I like him and I made good albums and songs with him. But I’m thinking about doing a mixture in the band, with famous people and not-so-famous ones.
He adds:

Quote:

I will know exactly in one month who I want to have in this band. I’ve got a good idea about the ideal candidates but it wouldn’t be fair to say anything now.
And he emphasises:

Quote:

We’ll probably play three or four shows in June. That’s all.
What's Glenn got planned for next June? :singer: :D

moondream Aug-18-2015 1:01 PM

Wow, that would be awesome!! I would really love to see him playing DP. I hope he's gonna play somewhere in Central Europe too, so I can get to one of the gigs.

lioness Sep-08-2015 9:19 AM

The latest news from Ritchie himself:

Quote:

I am doing four dates in June, which will be all rock," Blackmore says, speaking to us alongside Night. "I have the band basically together and it will be [the best of] Rainbow and Deep Purple. It’s just having fun but it’s only four dates in Europe. I don’t want to do anymore because I take what I’m doing now much more seriously.”

the most interesting thing is right at the bottom

Ritchie:
Quote:

I turned 70. And arthritis is starting to set in. Jon’s not around. So many others aren’t around. You start to see your friends pass and just feel it’s time to play some of the old songs. Nostalgia is a big reason to do it, but not the only reason.

JohnH Sep-09-2015 10:51 PM

I will be there for sure , unless getting a ticket is as easy as Zep 02.

Two of the shows are planned to take place in Germany, Ritchie told a magazine

You'll have a long way to travel to those gigs, John.

JohnH Sep-16-2015 10:52 PM

Well let's see I've done that four times - once for HTP UK and three for Blackmore's Night Germany so it's not a big deal and for Blackmore rocking I'll do it again !

Well, John, looks as if you can start making travel plans for Germany! ;)

As the local press reports today, Ritchie Blackmore will rock again at the "Monsters of Rock" on 18th June 2016 in Bietigheim.

Bietigheim is about 20 kilometers north of Stuttgart.

Ticket sale will start 6th November 2015.

A beatiful open air location under a old bridge. Capacity 15.000. It's a pity as Ritchie only does these four shows. There's such a big demand from fans for Blackmore playing rockshows with Purple and Rainbow music. Come on Ritchie play a huge tour for your fans and then you can play Blackmores Night forever.

Two German shows now seem official

willem Oct-21-2015 12:39 PM

...and announced as Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow: Rock On

moondream Oct-23-2015 2:38 AM

I don't think that Ritchie gives a single sh.t about the fans :D He's always been like that, playing only because it makes him happy, and not really caring about what others think. But that's just my impression based on the numerous stories that I have read/heard about him :)

Let's wait and see how soon the news appear on blabbermouth. Last time it took them eight hours or so. These guys seem to love the GH fanpage... :D

willem Oct-23-2015 12:38 PM

The capacacity of the venues is not very large, even under 10.000 at Loreley, I gues. So it will not be very big and a whole generation thing. Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow without Dio is not THE Rainbow. Blackmore can never be replaced and so is Dio.

But I look forward to see a new Rainbow version again, but please in indoor locations, like the great Westfalenhale in Dortmund. Better rock location for old school rock fans. We don't want the rain and mud. The 2 chosen locations for 2016 a beautiful places but not high class rock locations like the better indoor venues ;)

willem Oct-23-2015 10:05 PM

Ticket price € 78,75: presale starts 6th november at ADticket :)

wolfysmith Oct-30-2015 10:58 AM

There's only going to be one other show and its in the UK - details to be announced on November 2nd:

Third (and last) Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow show in Birmingham (indoor show) 25th june 2016.
Bandmembers announced tomorrow.
Presale for all three shows friday

wolfysmith Nov-04-2015 11:20 AM

tickets on sale

Tickets have been on sale for all areas all day on the Ticket Factory website.

the Planet Rock "exclusive presale" tickets was a complete joke today. I spent half the morning trying to get tickets from there and it kept listing them then saying none available. Eventually i got 2 pairs in block 6 which werent too bad. then i found out about the other site this afternoon and got 2 more in block F which were even better.

if you go direct to the Ticket factory website it says not on sale till Friday but if you do a search and click the result you can buy seats in all areas they have left!

Willem, if you don't like open air gigs, you should go to Krefeld next summer. Purple will play there at KönigPalast 23rd July. It's indoor, it's a Saturday, it's not far from the Dutch border.

In addition to the gigs in Hannover & Hamburg in about two weeks, I'll be there, too.

Ticket sale starts this Friday :bouncer:

willem Nov-05-2015 8:46 PM

I've seen that the Purple 2016 tour is taking shape. Thanx for the tip Yvonne

Ritchie Blackmores Rainbow in Birmingham within an hour or so: 16.000 tickets completely sold out! This means the demand for this band is huge. Unbelievable that Ritchie doesn't do a large tour, because he can make serious money with this. And let's hope he gives the fans the chace to see him
all over the world. Because Ritchie playing rock is magic

Actually they were practically sold out before the "general sale" at 10am today as they had been fully on sale on the actual venue's website since 10am Wednesday. There was no such thing as a presale and general sale as it turned out - see my previous post.

There are now people trying to re-sell them on for a fortune - £880 A TICKET for good seats in block B and over £200 for seats at the back on www.getmein.com/tickets/ritchie-blackmores-rainbow-tickets/birmingham-286484.html

With the sites fees the £880 tickets work out at over £2000 for the pair!!! These are £50 face value tickets by the way.

I have a spare pair in Block 11 if anyone is interested.

willem Nov-07-2015 6:52 AM

New Singer Ronnie Romero by far no Dio and even Bonnet, JLT and Dougie are much better, in my opinion :(

The latest in-depth interview with Ritchie is in a Swedish magazine.

A litte anecdote from a couple of years ago:

Quote:

According to a posting on The Rainbow Fanclan Legacy, the latest issue of Sweden Rock magazine contains a very funny report from the release party for BLACKMORE'S NIGHT's new album, "The Village Lanterne", at the restaurant Cartouche in Prague.

The Sweden Rock reporter was flown to Prague from Sweden only to see BLACKMORE'S NIGHT mainman Ritchie Blackmore (ex-DEEP PURPLE, RAINBOW) chatting away most of the night with a Polish TV team. Finally the reporter get access to Ritchie for a couple of minutes and the guitar player gives weird answers, praises ABBA and JETHRO TULL and says he wants to play rock again (but with BLACKMORE'S NIGHT). All of a sudden BLACKMORE'S NIGHT manager and mother to Ritchie's girlfriend and band partner Candice, Carole Stevens, shows up and is angry because an interview is going on after curfew. Ritchie throws a piece of paper at Mrs. Stevens and explains that he was the one to ask the Swedish reporter to stay. When the interview is over, the Swedish reporter, who is a big fan of Blackmore, asks for a couple of autographs and all is fine as long as Ritchie Blackmore signs publicity photos of BLACKMORE'S NIGHT. When the DEEP PURPLE box set "Listen, Learn, Read On" is taken out, Ritchie asks, "Who gets paid for this?" The manager runs away with the box and the reporter is reminded of the story about the guy who got his copy of "Machine Head" ripped to pieces by the mother-in-law. The reporter sets off after Stevens and asks if he can get his box back. Stevens refuses and throws the box into the hands of the Swedish record company representative and says, "This is why Sweden never will get an interview again!"

;) :D

I wonder what Ritchie's mother-in-law said when she found out that the Birmingham gig was practically sold out before the official ticket sale date? Has that ever happened with BN gigs?

chutsler Nov-08-2015 12:36 PM
