I see that BB King's is advertising this show on their web site now :clapper:
Although like so many other businesses, mine is definently slower right now, this will be a wonderful way to celebrate our 15 year aniversary here at Purple Music. (April Fool's Day, 1994)

cheers and peace,

captmidnite1962 Dec-02-2008 4:45 PM

A hop, skip and a jump

Let me see..the last time Glenn played at B.B. King's...I got up at 0530 and jumped in the car...drove to Vienna VA to catch the Metro....took that to Union Station to get the Amtrak to NYC....get to NYC and take the LIRR out to Baldwin to collect my brother...back into the city....have a fabulous time with everyone at the show...grab a few hours sleep on the couch at Frank's hotel room...walk back to Penn Station at 0530 to catch the train back to Washington D.C. Then hop the Metro back to Vienna and a 2 1/2 hour drive back to Harrisonburg....

Now....I walk two blocks, hop on the subway, get off at the Port Authority Bus Terminal and walk a block to the show....

You gotta love it!!

Ok, I'll join in.

After southern California falls into the Pacific due to one too many natural disasters....what about the future west coast?.....Arizona!!! :D

Grace Dec-03-2008 7:26 AM

I may be a crazy person, but I'm not a happy crazy person ~

#1. "Grace" has a lot of nerve telling Glenn Hughes what to do.

#2. It's a done deal; the papers have already been signed.

#3. Nobody else has complained, who was there the last time.
(Food served during Glenn's performance; support pillars in the way of a clear view;
people packed in like sardines......)

#4. YOU DON'T HAVE TO play a violin to rent Carnagie Hall in NY.

#5. BB King is a legendary performer, and I wish him all good luck with his club.

BUT THE PLACE WAS WAY TOO SMALL TO HOLD THE AUDIENCE,

THE LAST TIME AROUND......

I am just deciding on Hotel now for the weekend. Will get in Friday afternoon and fly back here on Sunday afternoon. Choosing between the Barclay Inter Continental and the Marriott Marquis for the stay. If anyone is going to be staying in the City maybe we can get rooms in the same place and have a post-gig party.

Of course David and Shirean, Bill, Kenny and Carolyn, Vinnie, Jerome and Nathalie and Bart are mandatory on the invite list with Glenn and anyone else who'd like to join. I will get a suite to be sure there is room.

purplemusic Dec-03-2008 2:18 PM

the last couple of times that i've been in New York, I've stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Times Square. I like that the rooms have a small refrig. and a microwave. If anyone is interested, they're at 790 8th ave. which is close enough to the venue, just a few blocks. ph. # is 212-581-7000.

Looking forward to having a girl in my bed this time though

peace to you all,

Man, now I won't be able to sleep for days

captmidnite1962 Dec-04-2008 8:12 AM

Oh man....

You guys are BEYOND wrong....

I'm gonna strangle Bart!!

Just kidding....looking forward to the Funkfest in NYC!! And I won't have to ride a ...a...I don't want to say the "T" word in front of Glenn given his experience in Russia not too long ago! ;)

But this time...let's think of another restaurant to meet at beforehand. I really felt lousy that Wolfy's experience with Ben's was, shall we say, a disappointment. My brother and I went there before we got to the venue and, while the food was tasty, the service was a disgrace. Memo to the staff...they don't call it the service industry for nothing!

FCinnella Dec-04-2008 10:09 AM

Good thinking Bill. The service was abysmal. Maybe some pizza would be better this time. Since it is Saturday we don't need to be so close to the venue either. I bet Vinnie has some good places in mind.

purplemusic Dec-05-2008 6:51 AM

all of that sounds good to me too. i'm an easy man to please (sometimes). a nice slice of Rays Pizza is always a must for me when i'm in NY. i'm open to it if someone knows of a better place though.
i don't think they serve peas and cornbread at Rays though ;)
peace everyone

Vinnis Dec-05-2008 11:36 AM

I dunno the name BUT there is a pizza shop at the corner SOUTH of BBs on the same side of the street :)
