Poll To help me out

OK this is WAY off topic, but I trust the acumen of my fellow GHCPs that I must ask for your assistance.

In a city (Albuquerque), where good shows are minimal, I have the following quandry.

On June 22, Doro and Hot Tuna are playing in adjacent theaters at the same time.

Both have "No Re-Entry" policies...so I pose the question to the best music fans in the world...

Doro or Hot Tuna ???

I will take your answers into my decision.

Thanks in advance.

Shirean May-16-2007 4:49 PM

Well, if you're in New York the day after GH plays, Doro is at BB Kings....

David and I will be there, if that's any consolation :D

good idea shirean - you could really make it a real nice homecoming frank

toadsterama May-16-2007 9:52 PM

Hmm...jam band or high priestess of metal? Both have good music. Are they both headlining sets? Of course, Doro is better looking than Jack Casady or Jorma. In past years, have you seen one more than the other?

I think I'd go for Hot Tuna myself, because I've never seen them. I've seen Doro.

In a matter completely unrelated to your quandry, Frank, I picked up the new Ian Hunter album and it is outstanding! I may even like it more than 'Rant', which I rated pretty highly and considered his best in years. Ian is at the top of his game - his voice is strong as ever and the songs are rock solid.

Cheers...Todd

Thanks for the reminder. I heard one of Ian's new songs on Rockline last week and I was totally blown away. I must get that album, I have none of his other ones, but if the rest of the album is as good as that song I heard, then I'm in. This is a recent trend, Lately I'm buying new albums by artists I've known of for years, like Saxon and Tesla that I have never bought anything of. Lionheart by Saxon is particularly brilliant. Like Glenn Hughes, these artists can still put out top notch work even at this stage of their game, it's impressive and inspiring.

Well, im not helping at all :p but next Monday im going to see Talisman at JB's featuring a certain JSS :singer: At the same time Jeff Healey is doing a "full blues show" at the nearby Robin 2 (where Glenn should play). My friends who were gonna come to see JSS didnt realise the two clashed and already had tickets for JH!

And then while im away watching Glenn :bouncer: im missing Paul Gilbert and REO Speedwagon :(

So no help at all then Frank! But Shirean's suggestion sounds good.

Well I'm not much help either - don't know any of Doro's stuff (even though she's been around for yearshttp://planetsmilies.net/shocked-smiley-9455.gif) - and I've never heard of Hot Tuna....http://planetsmilies.net/shocked-smiley-9455.gifhttp://planetsmilies.net/shocked-smiley-9455.gifhttp://planetsmilies.net/shocked-smiley-9455.gifhttp://planetsmilies.net/shocked-smiley-9455.gif).

Such a bummer when that happens - Aerosmith are playing London the day I go on holiday (http://planetsmilies.net/sad-smiley-379.gif http://planetsmilies.net/sad-smiley-384.gif http://smileys.on-my-web.com/reposit...crying-022.gif http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Sad/mad-050.gif http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Sad/sad-057.gif) ...

AND....

the Tour de France is coming to London .... while I'm away.... http://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Sad/mad-050.gifhttp://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Sad/mad-050.gifhttp://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Sad/mad-050.gifhttp://smileys.on-my-web.com/repository/Sad/mad-050.gif http://smileys.on-my-web.com/reposit...nhappy-057.gif

OK - after having done some lunch time research I decided to vote for Doro. Hot Tuna do "sound" good (I love some of Jefferson Airplane's stuff), BUT having checked our Doro's website - she won me over on that alone - and that was without sound!! :p :p (..now I will have to get home and have a listen to both of their music...)

chrisloeb May-17-2007 8:53 AM

Any chance you can decide like... make a left turn for Doro, or a right turn for Hot Tuna, Frank?
If you really want to see both and can't decide, let the heat of the moment (no pun intended!) decide.
I voted for Hot Tuna if that helps. Jam bands are usually fun to watch live.
Not of much help here, sorry - the score is 4:4 momentarily...
Make sure to let us know, which show you went to see... :)

Later,
Christian

P.S. next show I will attend: Spock's Beard, tomorrow (May 18th) here in Vienna

there's no news on Jeffs site! but the only tourdates listed are one for Journey and one for JSS + SAS

JB's still lists it on their site.

Sorry,Wolfy, just seen this over at Melodic Rock:

http://www.melodicrock.com/

UK TALISMAN SHOWS CANCELLED:
The UK leg of the Talisman tour has been cancelled with great regret. The following note came through last night: "We are sorry to announce that both the UK Talisman dates have been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances beyond our control. Further information, and if and when they are able to reschedule, will be posted on melodicrock.com and Jeff's site, as well as the JSS Mailing List updates."
Frank Tunney (on behalf of Talisman).

:(

toadsterama May-18-2007 1:29 PM

Strange, it was there before. I just looked again and you're right - there's no news item about the cancelled dates.

But the notice that Ben quoted from MR.com is exactly right. There's no indication that they'll be rescheduled, at least at this point. Bummer. I know how much you were anticipating the show :(

Todd
